Amnesty Int’l Needs Cheese. Ask Them About Troopers That Taser Kids

Protesters were arrested for being violent, so, it must be time for human rights groups to throw a hissy fit. From one of my new favorite news sites, Canadian Free Press: Use of Force Against RNC Protesters ‘Disproportionate,’ Charges Amnesty Int’l

The cleaning crews hadn’t even started their work in St. Paul following the end of the Republican Convention, when the knee-jerk leftists at Amnesty International released their statement accusing police officers of using excessive force against the misfits and miscreants creating havoc outside of the convention center.

Amnesty International is concerned about “allegations of excessive use of force and mass arrests by police at demonstrations in St. Paul, Minnesota during the Republican National Convention (RNC) from September 1-4, 2008,” said the organization in a press release written in London, England,

The human rights organization is calling on the city and county authorities to “ensure that all allegations of ill-treatment and other abuses are impartially investigated, with a review of police tactics and weapons in the policing of demonstrations.”

Say, I wonder if Amnesty would care to comment on the trooper in the Tasergate (sic) kerfuffle who tasered his 10 year old step son for the hell of it. Oh, wait, sorry, the violent wacko’s protesting at the RNC and failing to follow the law were on the left side, Palin is on the right. My bad!

From the Amnesty USA press release

Amnesty International recognizes the challenges involved in policing large scale demonstrations and that some protestors may have been involved in acts of violence or obstruction. However, some of the police actions appear to have breached United Nations (U.N.) standards on the use of force by law enforcement officials. These stipulate, among other things, that force should be used only as a last resort, in proportion to the threat posed, and should be designed to minimize damage or injury. Some of the treatment also appears to have contravened U.S. laws and guidelines on the use of force. The U.N. standards also stress that everyone is allowed to participate in lawful and peaceful assemblies, in accordance with the principles embodied in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Takie your time with your laughing after that one! U.N. standards my hairy butt!

As a bonus from the CFP

In a delicious stroke of cosmic justice, it seems that the left, not the earth, is in meltdown stage. The sacred pillars of liberal orthodoxy are in the process of losing their underpinnings and it is not a pretty sight.

With the nomination of Barack and Sarah, three major industries and shibboleths of the left, feminism, racism and the media are losing their clout, big time.

Double bonus: Amnesty International is more concerned with international anti-terrorism units being nice, then international terrorists sawing people’s heads off.

One Response to “Amnesty Int’l Needs Cheese. Ask Them About Troopers That Taser Kids”

  1. Duncan says:

Amnesty International, and groups like them, mainly whine to the U.N. and western nations because we’re the only ones who actually take them (somewhat) seriously. The terrorist groups are just as likely to kill them as spit on ’em.

And personally, after watching the destructive mayhem going on at the “peace” marches, I think the force used was appropriate…
