Which is a problem. Running for office is now like being a game-show contestant: Can you navigate the series of booby-trapped events set up by people experienced at focusing on the silly? Rather than trying to elicit information that will help voters discern if the candidate will be a good president (or veep), the press focuses on coaxing the candidate they don’t like into saying something that will eliminate him or her from the game.

What ever the McCain campaign’s motives are I really do think this is hurting her. There are only a few more weeks until the election. I know very little about Sarah Palin and I would like to know more. Seeing how she handles unscripted moments with reporters would help. Instead, this is what the campaign is doing:

Let’s see: the media has been mostly negative and insulting towards Palin AND her family, and, on the flip side, has not done due diligence on Obama and Biden. Hmm, what kind of information will you get out of them, Silke? Something like
