Apparently, someone decided to put on a “chav” Christmas play, chav meaning basically “young scumbag.” In America, these would be the people walking through the mall with pants that keeping falling down, a towel over their shoulder, hat turned to the side, no shower in the immediate past, and probably one of those fake teeth grills, and you can barely understand what they are saying. And they can be black or white
A relative of one of the pupils described the text of the play as “disgraceful” and said it gave completely the wrong impression of the nativity to pupils.
Michelle Taylor, 35, said she was stunned when one of the pupils at the Oakwood School in Bexley, Kent, showed her the play.
“I couldn’t believe what I was seeing,’ said office manager Michelle yesterday.
“You try to encourage your children to speak properly and then they get given this sort of thing at school. I know some young people do speak like this sometimes but the school should not be condoning it in any way.
“In one scene they have Mary and Joseph breaking into a garage because there is no room at the inn. That is not right.
“The pupil I spoke to thought it was highly amusing that Mary and Joseph were being portrayed as chavs, but I didn’t.”
The school went on to say it was not meant to be used for an actual play, but for a drama class, and apologized. In other words, they got caught and made something up.
