It’s stories like this that make those on the Right wonder whoseside the Left is on: America’s or the terrorists? Of course, it is usually a retorical question, since we know the answer is pretty much the latter
In an interview with Brit Hume that aired today on Fox News Sunday, President Bush admitted that he personally authorized the torture of 9/11 mastermindKhalid Sheikh Mohammed. He said he personally asked “what tools†were available to use on him, and sought legal approval for waterboarding him:
BUSH: One such person who gave us information was Khalid Sheikh Mohammed. … And I’m in the Oval Office and I am told that we have captured Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and the professionals believe he has information necessary to secure the country. So I ask what tools are available for us to find information from him and they gave me a list of tools, and I said are these tools deemed to be legal? And so we got legal opinions before any decision was made.
Oh noes!!!! Ordering that a terrorist who was the mastermind behind 9/11 be interrogated! Of course, can I get a show of hands from the left to see how many believe in LILHOP and/or MILHOP? That’s what I thought. Lots.
Last year, Bush admitted that he was “aware†that his national security team met to discuss KSM’s interrogation, and that he approved of the meeting. His admission today suggests Bush had a far more direct role in developing the specific torture program, which included waterboarding, a freezing cell, and long periods of standing and stress positions (all of which have long been considered torture).
I guess my job is considered “torture,” since we have long periods of standing, sometimes almost the whole shift (for liberals, a whole full time work shift is typically 8 hours or more, as scheduled. If you want to understand “scheduled,” find a dictionary.) This would mean that people who work in many positions in hospitals, department stores, and other businesses are being tortured.
Show of hands to the little jihadis: how many of you were actually hurt during these sessions? None? You were just scared a little bit and annoyed? Thanks.
Jules Crittenden puts it nicely
Actually, Bush admits he approved harsh interrogation methods after being advised they were legal and did not constitute torture … seeing as they are applied to U.S. soldiers in training … and that the interrogators gained information that helped save lives. Think Progress, citing an entirely different situation, falsely claims that interrogators denied that the breaking of al-Qaeda terrorists without causing any physical harm via waterboarding saved lives. In fact, the only interrogator who participated in waterboarding to have spoken publicly about it to date has said while he didn’t like the method, it was quick, highly effective and in his estimation, may have prevented dozens of attacks.
Huzzah.
Video over at Think Jihad, if you care to watch it. Funny how the same liberals have no problem killing millions upon millions of babies through abortion, yet go all wobbly over some harsh treatment of terrorists, eh? Oh, sorry, I forgot, it’s not about them but about us, and what we could become, or some other silly argument. They should just admit that they despise Bush and like Islamists.
Coronation ? well it does seem that a lot of Republicans have learned to love Obama. Just look at those approval ratings !
Well, all I can say, John, is wait till he is inaugurated and The Man. See how he actually does.
I will back him on stuff I agree with him on, I will NOT reflexively fight against every possible no matter what.
