The Neverending Campaign takes a new twist. Where as his previous foray into speaking to the world at the Brandenburg Gate was just hopeychangey, Obamateur doesn’t quite understand that one of the reasons the world hates us is because we are arrogant (and we have every damned right to be arrogant, IMO), so, what does he do?
As calls for the dollar to be replaced by a global currency grew louder, President Barack Obama on Tuesday published an editorial in 31 newspapers around the world, from Riyadh to Hong Kong to New Delhi to Chicago, attempting to stake out a strong leadership position at next month’s global economic summit in London.
“The United States is ready to lead, and we call upon our partners to join us with a sense of urgency and common purpose,” Mr. Obama wrote.
“Our leadership is grounded in a simple premise: We will act boldly to lift the American economy out of crisis and reform our regulatory structure, and these actions will be strengthened by complementary action abroad.”
Now, I certainly agree with putting the USA in the drivers seat, so, kudos to the Big O for understanding that. But, besides the fact that it is rather, well, creepy for the President of the United States of America to submit editorials to papers around the world, it is exactly that arrogance (we we are darned entitled to!) that has pissed people around the world off. I tried checking some of the foreign papers to see if they had comments from readers, but, not in the English language that I could find. Oh, well.
It was distributed by Tribune Media Services and appeared in several Gulf States newspapers, as well as the Arabic-language Asharq Al Awsat, in Pakistan, Japan, throughout Europe, including France’s Le Monde and the International Herald Tribune, and in select South American countries such as Brazil, Chile and Argentina.
It was published in three U.S. cities: Baltimore, Chicago and Los Angeles.
Perhaps Mr. Creepybama could actually have a dialogue with the world leaders and the people in his own Treasury depar….Sorry, forgot. Obama is working hard to tick off the world leaders and has only recently offered up nomination #2 for Treasury. Out of 18.
But, if Obama keeps telling the world “I’m an anteater, beyatches!!!!!” I’ll cut him some slack.
