This couldn’t have anything to do with the rumors that Barack Obama is a closet Muslim, could it?* Nah. It has more to do with those on the far left respecting the values and objectives of Islam then other established religions – Hawaii Lawmakers Pass Bill to Create ‘Islam Day’
Hawaii’s state Senate overwhelmingly approved a bill Wednesday to celebrate “Islam Day” — over the objections of a few lawmakers who said they didn’t want to honor a religion connected to Sept. 11, 2001.
The Senate’s two Republicans argued that a minority of Islamic extremists have killed many innocents in terrorist attacks.
Can you imagine the uproar from the Left if a State legislature, heck, a small town board, creating a Christianity Day or Hebrew Day? Massive talking points about the wall of separation between church and state. We know that Democrats do like to erect walls.
“I recall radical Islamists around the world cheering the horrors of 9/11. That is the day all civilized people of all religions should remember,” said Republican Sen. Fred Hemmings to the applause of more than 100 people gathered in the Senate to oppose a separate issue — same-sex civil unions.
The resolution to proclaim Sept. 24, 2009, as Islam Day passed the Senate on a 22-3 vote. It had previously passed the House and now goes to Republican Gov. Linda Lingle.
Will Gov. Lingle have the fortitude to stand strong in the face of dhimmitude in the Hawaii legislative branch? And, of all the days, they pick one in September? Searching around, I cannot find any significance to the Muslim faith for that day. Anyone know?
“We are a state of tolerance. We understand that people have different beliefs,” said Sen. Will Espero, a Democrat. “We may not all agree on every single item and issue out there, but to say and highlight the negativity of the Islamic people is an insult to the majority” of believers “who are good law-abiding citizens of the world.”
Here’s today’s task, folks: everyone write or call Will Espero, and ask him to submit a bill proclaiming some day in the year Christian Day and another to be Hebrew Day. Let’s see how far his tolerance extends.
*That Obama is a Muslim crack is simply that: a wisecrack. I do not think he is a Muslim. I think he is a Godless Progressive who will used religion when it benefits his politics, but, otherwise couldn’t care less.
Michelle Malkin wonders where the ACLU is.
Atlas Shrugs: Jewish day? Christian day? Sikh day? Pagan day? Wicca day?

Thanks for putting the word out about the condition in Hawaii. What’ll happen to those Hawaiians considered ‘abominations’ in the Quaran when they become an Islamic state? It”l be a looong swim to democracy.
When I need my next tropical experience and go out of my country, it will be to a friendly island – like Okinawa or the Cook Islands.
Hawaii passes…
Dhimmitude in the Island State, and it makes no difference whether this involves spending money or not, it’s stupid and careless (Hat tip: Michelle Malkin)…
The vast majority of Germans and Japanese were good, law abiding citizens of the world in 1944. The problem at the time was political. (An understatement, to say the least.)
The problem today is political Islam. It is hostile to the United States and our way of life.
Read it for yourself.

Note that the resolution states that the “96th United States Congress officially recognized the noble qualities of Islam … on October 15, 1979 (SCR 43)” – less than 3 weeks before Islamic radicals seized our embassy in Tehran.
The ratio of Yes votes to the number of Muslims in Hawaii is LESS than the ratio of Muslims in Hawaii to the population of Hawaii (22:3000 vs. 3000:1,288,198, or 1:136 vs. 1:429).
Also take note of this paragraph:
WHEREAS, Islam strives for a world-wide community which, in the words of one Islamic poet-philosopher, “does not recognize the superficial differences of race, or history, or nationality”;
Let that soak in for a while. I don’t consider my history or nationality superficial. But what sort of “world-wide community” could they be referring to? Could it possibility mean a global Caliphate? I don’t know what else it could mean.
So what Hawaii is saying is that BECAUSE Islam calls for world domination to the exclusion of Magna Carta, the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, the Geneva Convention, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (all differences of history) and to the exclusion of the sovereignty of the United States and Hawaii itself, that Hawaii will set aside a day to honor Islam.
That is madness.
That is no different from saying that because Hitler wanted a world free of Jews, we should set aside April 20 as “Nazi day.”
Mucking forons.
I have to wonder how many other states will go dhimmi in the same way by the end of the year. But, no Christmas lights in the town square!
If I had to lay money, I’d go with Wiskonsin. Since about 1998 we are very fond of rolling over here.
hmmmmm – no Catholic, Jewish, Lutheran, Methodist, Presbyterian, Buddhist, Sikh or any other special day to honor an individual religion. If this isn’t a blatant violation of of the First Amendment, I’ve never seen one. I don’t know of any direct connection between this and Barak the Great, but I’ve long suspected that his sympathies and beliefs are not in favor of the United States or any of our traditions. He may not be a covert Moslem , but he sure doesn’t seem interested in acting in America’s best interests. (eg. CIA memos, Iraq pull out schedule, etc.)
I think it’s great. Islam has already surpassed Christianity as the world’s largest religion…. and over the next 25 years, it’s set to take over Europe…
and over the next 50, US of A. I think that’s what scares people…. incidentally the taleban are a product of the American CIA. Watch Hillary’s speech…. America’s just sowing what it reaped…
Why would you choose to honor a religious/political group that does not support the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. All 57 Islamic countries endorsed the Cairo Declaration, NOT one endorsed the Universal Declaration.
Article 5 of the Cairo Declaration prohibits imposing any restrictions on marriage stemming from “race, colour or nationality”, notably excluding religion from the list. That is in part because Shariah law does restrict marriage on the basis of religion, since Shariah forbids a Muslim woman to marry a non-Muslim man. Shariah does permit a Muslim man to marry a non-Muslim woman.
Article 6 of the Cairo Declaration states that women are guaranteed equal dignity, in contrast to the Universal declaration which offers equal rights. Equal dignity is amorphous and ambiguous and open to interpretation. Equal rights cannot be manipulated to fit Sharia law. Sharia law is based on the Islamic Trilolgy-the Koran, the sira, and the hadith. Equal rights conflict with the word of Allah and Mohammed as written in the trilogy.
Rotary Club does good things. Did you know that HAMAS (the Islamic Resistance) states in Article 22 of their charter, written August 18, 1988, that the enemies of Isalm formed “…secret societies, such as Freemasons, Rotary Clubs, the Lions and others in different parts of the world for the purpose of sabotaging societies and achieving Zionis interests.”
As an American and Hawaii resident I object to Islam Day. Please respond.

actually, there already are holidays for Buddhism, Bahai, etc in Hawaii
Dear Joe,
There may be other days for Buddhism Bahai, etc And? That is irrelevant to Islam Day. The objection is about what the resolution states about Islam –
Why has no Islamic country signed the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (a UN document)? There is only one correct answer. The culture of Islam limits the rights of women and unbelievers (Sharia law). Sharia law is both a religious and political doctrine. This is something that should be celebrated and honored?
You state in your letter, “…innocent people need not be blamed for the decisions of a few.” I would agree if the decisions of the “few” were not supported by a very large percentage of Muslims. A survey entitled “The Detroit Mosque Study: Muslim Views on Policy and Religion,” by Ihsan Bagby of the Institute for Social Policy Understanding, a Muslim group, found that 81% of Muslims surveyed support Sharia law in Muslim countries. I don’t see 81% supporting Sharia as moderate. Sharia law contains numerous provisions that deny tenets of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Conversion from Islam is punishable by death; non-Muslims are second-class citizens; a woman’s testimony is not admissible in her own rape case, and on and on. This is something that should be celebrated and honored?
There are many inaccuate facts in the resolution, to name just two:
Whereas, Islam, a religion with a long and noble history… Islam is based on three foundational texts, the Koran, the Sira, and the Hadith. These are the basis of Sharia law. A basic tennant of Islam is that Muhammad is the prophet of the only god. Muhammed is the perfect example of Islamic life. His ords and actions should be followed by all Muslims. As stated in the trilogy, Mohammed married a 6 year old girl, consummated the marriage when she was 9. He personally fought in 27 battles. Since 9/11 there have been more than 13,000 radical Islamic terrorist attacks worldwide. This is something that should be celebrated and honored?
Whereas, Islamic artists, scientists, and pholosophers have a rich history of contribution to world literature and our collective scientific understanding;…Islam may have made contributions during the Middle Ages (original contributions are debatable), but hey have not done much in the last 100 years. All of Islam, at least 1.4 billion in 57 countries, account for only 9 Nobel Prizes in the last 114 years. In contrast, the Jewish population of about 14 million worldwide, account for 184 Nobel Prizes in the last 114 years. Many more countries and cultures have substantially more prizes than the entire Islam community. This is something to be celebrated and honored?
One of the essentials of a good community, that is, a community in which each of us can build flourishing lives for ourselves and those we care about, is tolerance. The paradox of tolerance, is that a tolerant society is at risk of tolerating those who are intolerant, and allowing movements to grow which foster intolerance.
If this is not enough, consider that September 24th is actually September 11th on the Jullian calendar. Let’s celebrate Islam on the day that 3000 Americans died at the hands of Muslim terrorists.
Muhammed made no progress for 10 years until 622 when he was forced to leave Mecca by Jews, Christians, Quayrish tribes etc. At this time, after 10 years as the self proclaimed prophet, he had about 100 followers. This was a period of relative non violence. The Koran becomes increasingly violent after the move to Medina. After his arrival in Medina, he began to preach violence with these options- convert, submit, or die. Conversions exploded Islam, submissions created the Jizya tax on dhimmis, and deaths are estimated to be about 270 million to date thanks to radical Islam, the religion of peace. Muhammed personally participated in 27 battles. He was a brilliant war strategist.
This website documents his arrival in Medina on September 24, 622. http://www.history.com/this-day-in-history.do?action=Article&id=7030
The calendar difference between the current Gregorian calendar and old Julian calendar is 13 days as indicated below. That would make today’s conversion September 11th for Muhammed’s arrival in Medina.
Since the introduction of the Gregorian calendar, the difference between Gregorian and Julian calendar dates has increased by three days every four centuries:
Gregorian range Julian range Difference
From 15 October 1582to 28 February 1700 From 5 October 1582to 18 February 1700 10 days
From 1 March 1700to 28 February 1800 From 19 February 1700to 17 February 1800 11 days
From 1 March 1800to 28 February 1900 From 18 February 1800to 16 February 1900 12 days
From 1 March 1900to 28 February 2100 From 17 February 1900to 15 February 2100 13 days
From 1 March 2100to 28 February 2200 From 16 February 2100to 14 February 2200 14 days
