Linda Chavez calls it Obama’s My Pet Goat Moment. I think she’s wrong since the media is editing it down to cut the opening lines out.
I don’t think this is a My Pet Goat moment, unless Linda means one which is going to be taken totally out of context. Bush stayed calm, waited for the facts to come in, and didn’t start running around. He let the professionals do their jobs. Obama, on the other hand, seemed to need to stroke his own ego before faking being sad.
John Lilyea at This ain’t Hell….. finds out that the shooter, Major Malik Nadal Hasan, a recent Muslim convert, has NEVER been deployed overseas. Supposedly, Hasan was extremely unhappy about potentially being deployed overseas to Iraq or Afghanistan (you know, something that can happen when one VOLUNTARILY joins and re-ups in the military.)
Friday Update: It seems that the “Medal Of Honor” winner, Joe Medicine Crow, who Obama referred to, actually was awarded the Medal Of Freedom by Obama himself. In August. Obama can’t even get that right during his 2 minutes of shout outs and “great meeting, folks.” As the saying goes, imagine if Bush had made a whopper of a gaffe like that. (via Van Helsing)
Yeah he gave a shout out to a CONGRESSIONAL MEDAL OF HONOR winner, that sure sounds unpatriotic to the ultra right, you know the same ones that thought that Hoffman was a lock in the NY 23rd.
You really think a press conference about a mass murder is the appropriate time to be giving “big ups” to ANYONE?
One quick shout out to the MOH winner, along with a ton of shout outs to administration people. You know darned well that you and the rest of the left wing would be going pure nuts if Bush had done that. Don’t even try and deny it, John. As TFMo points out, it was an inappropriate time.
Johnny can’t think.
