Climate Deal, Sort Of, In Copenhagen

Woo woo woo! Now all the Chicken Littles can feel good about doing, um, well, something of no consequence

The White House said Friday that U.S. President Barack Obama, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao, Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and South African President Jacob Zuma reached a “meaningful agreement” for combating climate change. The deal was described by an administration official as “not sufficient to combat the threat of climate change but it’s an important first step.”

Ah. So it’s somewhere between Jack and Sh*t and Jack just left the building. Reading between the lines, we can essentially infer that the Chinese and Indians told President Neophyte what he wanted to hear, and now they will go and blow off any verbal agreements.

Wasn’t Kyoto supposed to be the first important step (once they realized that most signatory countries were ignoring the Protocol?)

The White House official said developed and developing countries have agreed to listing their national actions and commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. There will be a mechanism to funnel money to help developing nations pay for technology and projects to cope with the affects of climate change, such as rising sea levels.

Countries had listed targets from Kyoto, too. Which most failed to abide by. But, the developing countries can say “we listed them!” as they take enormous amounts of money from 1st World nations.

The agreement sets a target of two degrees Celsius for the increase in global temperatures. Countries are supposed to provide information on the implementation of actions to cut carbon dioxide emissions through national communications, with provisions for international consultations and analysis under clearly defined guidelines, the official said.

Sounds like a continuation of the idiotic “bring awareness” measures we have been subjected to, which accomplish nothing. BTW, I’ll ask again: why is 2 degrees C acceptable, when they are massively whining and going bat sh*t crazy over a .6 to .7 C rise during the 20th Century?

But agreements on specifics eluded representatives of more than 190 nations at the summit.

But, we can all sing Kuymbaya!

Rich countries should commit to reduce their CO2 emissions by at least 80% by 2050, the draft states.

And we can all party like it is 1699!

Even the NY Times thinks the agreement is mostly useless.

Meanwhile, Vanity Fair thought Obambi’s Copenhagen speech stunk.

More: Ace points out that Obama is using that “unprecedented” word again. I don’t think it means what Barry thinks it means. Also

An accord which is non-binding is also known as “dudes blowing smoke up each other’s asses,” and also, sometimes, “not an accord,” but that doesn’t mean this is harmless.

There is no binding part of this deal. That’s why China, India, etc., have agreed to it. It doesn’t require them to do anything.

Instead, it asks countries that are stupid enough to slit their economic throats to do so, so that India and China and so on can reap the rewards.

And don’t forget the foot or so of “global warming” that will greet Dear Leader and the other climate alarmists as they return to D.C.

Might wanna throw in that 500 papers link on this article, Teach. Poor Reassic must have missed it.

I’ve been to a number of leftist sites and am seeing the same thing, Teach: they believer this whole affair was a sham, a shame, a waste of time, bogus, a lie.

    Just like ‘man-made’ climate change.

In the meantime, I have also been reading about peer-reviewed papers which show that heavy precipitation allows more heat energy to be lost from the atmosphere; that CO2 absorption by the oceans has not dropped off; that the coral reefs in Australia are making a fantastic comeback; that the quiet sun is allowing the upper atmosphere to cool- and that the quiet sun may end up giving us 30 years of cooling instead of the 7 – 15 originally predicted.

It has been a good week.

However… I do have a confession to make.

I DID believe in man-made global warming, back in the 80s. (this is Not the confession)

When I read about it in the papers I was not a happy person. Especially with people like James Watts working for President Reagan.

But then, as I continued to read, I began to notice patterns. Cycles, if you will… in the late 80s they were just discovering the link between such things as the El Nino, and hurricanes. And when I saw two disparate articles on those very subjects, I saw the connection that the scientists at the time seemed to be missing…

And then decent, fast computers came along, and I gained access to the internet.
    And I began to STUDY.

And I’ve learned a hell of a lot. It helps that I have a degree in Geology.

And I’ve kept studying, all through the last 20 years/

So now, I confess: people like realsick are not worth the time to answer.
People like him who feel the need to demean, demonize, condescend- even with words as polite as ‘you are ignorant’- are just utterly, utterly worthless.

None of us owed you one Damned bit of explanation of what and why we believe about global warming, JackASS realsick.

You are a WASTE of time.

Move on to the next ‘crisis’ on your list. This one’s Punked.
