There couldn’t possibly be some collusion going on, could there?
MSNBC: Experts: Despite cold snap, earth still warming. Scientists not connecting recent blast of cold weather to climate change
ABC News: Experts: Cold Snap Doesn’t Disprove Global Warming. Climate experts say the extreme cold around the world doesn’t disprove global warming
The Telegraph: Cold weather ‘doesn’t undermine global warming science’. The current cold weather gripping the UK does not undermine the fact the world is warming, experts said today.
The first two are based on an AP article. Interesting that the headline is almost exactly the same. Usually, they change it a bit. Excerpt from MSNBC
Beijing had its coldest morning in almost 40 years and its biggest snowfall since 1951. Britain is suffering through its longest cold snap since 1981. And freezing weather is gripping the Deep South, including Florida’s orange groves and beaches.
Whatever happened to global warming?
Such weather doesn’t seem to fit with warnings from scientists that the Earth is warming because of greenhouse gases. But experts say the cold snap doesn’t disprove global warming at all — it’s just a blip in the long-term heating trend. (snip)
Scientists say man-made climate change does have the potential to cause more frequent and more severe weather extremes, such as heat waves, storms, floods, droughts and even cold spells. But experts interviewed by The Associated Press did not connect the current frigid blast to climate change.
So, greenhouse gasses released by Man are causing it to get cold? Do these people ever actually listen to themselves? In fact, there are 4 people mentioned in the article, and only one attempts, in a tiny way, to prop up what the article is saying? So, where are these experts? Let’s check the Telegraph
Stephen Dorling, of the University of East Anglia’s school of environmental sciences, said it was not surprising the cold period raised questions over climate change – but the snowy weather should not be used as evidence against it.
He said: ”It’s no surprise that people look out of their window at the snow and find it hard to rationalise what’s going on with the longer term trend.”
But he said it was wrong to focus on single events – whether they were cold snaps or heat waves – which were the product of natural variability.
Instead they should look at the underlying, longer term trends for the climate which were more ”robust” evidence of the changes which are happening.
Blah blah blah blah. The Telegraph used two experts. Steve Dorling from East Anglia? Wasn’t that where ClimateGate started? The article also uses Barry Grommett, from the Met Office, which has had some really idiotic predictions that keep failing, and, oh, yeah, has been accused of manipulating climate data, among others.
So the recent cold snap proves nothing, or rather doesn’t disprove the “climate change” agenda, but let’s turn the tables a bit. If a sudden heat wave occurred causing record highs to be hit rather than record lows, you know they would be all over it saying that if we don’t do anything, the seas will rise 20′, the polar bears will all die off, blah, blah, blah….
Global warming made me forget to pick up milk on the way home today. AGW has its claws in EVERYTHING.
I’m waiting for a dose of climate change in the form of a dusting of snow this night
But a cold month on its own really doesn’t undermine whatever is going on long-term. That should be obvious, so why infer collusion on the broadcasting of this message?
Bri, every time it is a little bit hot, warm etc, we are told that it is man made global warming. Yet, when we have cold like we are having, we are told it is just nature. They want to have their cake and eat it too.
I do not disagree that the Earth warmed, it is part of nature. I just do not believe that Man has played more than a tiny part, mostly through agriculture and land use (cities, paving, etc.)
Humorously, when we do have cold snaps, the alarmists blame it on the release of greenhouse gasses, which makes no sense, or, say nature is covering up what Man has done.
Bri~ Major global-warming proponents like the UK Met were calling for a mild winter, thanks to global warming, right up until several FEET of snow burind Breat Britain.
In the meantime, Joe Bastardi had predicted these events in OCTOBER. And he’s a skeptic.
Now, your choice- who’s got it right, and what does that mean?
