Here’s your President going “la la la la la la la “I can’t hear you”
President Barack Obama said Sunday he has not ruled out a New York federal court trial for Sept. 11 planner Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, but he was taking into account the objections of the city’s mayor and police commissioner.
The Obama administration has come under withering attack, mainly from Republicans, for a decision by his Justice Department to try the terrorist mastermind in a U.S. court near Ground Zero, site of the attack that destroyed New York’s World Trade Center.
Really? Mostly Republicans? How about
Later Sunday, Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., responded: “Based on the security, logistical and cost concerns raised by the mayor and the police commissioner, it is not feasible to have the trials in New York. The administration should realize that and move on.”
Schumer’s a Republican? How about Dianne Feinstein, Joe, Leibermann, Blanche Lincoln, and Jim Webb? And 8 from Manhattan? Ike Skelton? How about all those Democrats who live in Manhattan? Two thirds of the American public, along with Gov. Patterson?
He also defended his decision, noting again that the administration of former President George W. Bush had handled terror suspects arrested in the United States in the same way.
“They prosecuted 190 folks in these Article III courts, got convictions and those folks are in maximum security prisons right now. And there have been no escapes,” Obama said. “And it is a virtue of our system we should be proud of.”
He still misses the point the public is trying to make him understand, but, he refuses to actually listen. Yes, most of us on the right think it is absurd to provide a civilian trial which will include giving KSM and the others American Constitutional Rights, but, there is also the matter of holding the trial in NYC a few blocks from where the World Trade Center stood, which will give KSM a platform to spew his America hatred. I do believe that most on the Right would also be against a military trial for KSM if it was held in NYC. I would certainly be fully opposed to that, as well.
I know, let’s do it in Chicago. The Federal courthouse is only about 6 miles from Obama’s Hyde Park home. Or, we can use some of that stimulus money to build a small courthouse a block or two form Barry’s house.
