Five Muslim Soldiers Arrested At Fort Jackson

This just makes one wonder how many more radical Muslims have infiltrated our armed services

CBN News has learned exclusively that five Muslim soldiers at Fort Jackson in South Carolina were arrested just before Christmas. It is unclear whether the men are still in custody. The five were part of the Arabic Translation program at the base.

The men are suspected of trying to poison the food supply at Fort Jackson.

A source with intimate knowledge of the investigation, which is ongoing, told CBN News investigators suspect the “Fort Jackson Five” may have been in contact with the group of five Washington, DC area Muslims that traveled to Pakistan to wage jihad against U.S. troops in December. That group was arrested by Pakistani authorities, also just before Christmas.

Extremist Islam just keeps creep creep creeping. Stop The ACLU is reporting that the soldiers were attempting to poison food at Fort Jackson.

But if this pans out — and, again, I hope it doesn’t — that would mean that we had an active cell, a plot by would-be-jihadists, within the ranks of the U.S. Army. The number five may be small in the big scheme of things, but to have five Muslim soldiers plotting together? That is a scary, scary thought.

  1. Thanks much for the link. Really appreciate it!

Makes me wonder why we don’t use Middle Eastern Christians as translators.

  2. Good point, Maggie. Also makes me wonder why Military Intell. doesn’t keep a better eye in people who are of the religion we are fighting against.

Teach only an idiot would accept something from the Christian Broadcasting Network that is an “exclusive” story. NONE were arrested and after an investigation the Army’s Criminal Investigative Division said that there was no credible evidence of these allegationshttp://www.latimes.com/news/nation-and-world/la-na-jackson-poison20-2010feb20,0,557754.story

  6. Well William, this stirred up some dirt, didn’t it? Media Matters is all over us.

Here’s the thing, in my view: Katherine Herridge’s report was spot-on.

Yesterday, Stakelbeck with CBN appropriately cited Patrick Jones, the Deputy Public Affairs Officer for Fort Jackson – who said an investigation was ongoing. Then CBN cited an unknown “government” source. Then cited a source with “intimate” knowledge, who called the suspects the “Fort Jackson Five.”

Then FOXNews quoted Chris Grey, a spokesman for the Army’s Criminal Investigation Division, who said they have taken this seriously, “but so far there is no credible information…” Which probably means they don’t have enough to charge anyone at this time.

FOX cites an additional two unnamed sources who said the suspects were part of the Arabic translation program.

Today Stakelbeck and CBN cites Christopher Gray also. Grey allegedly told Stakelbeck that the investigation is “open and continuing.”

“Open and continuing.” So, it is naive to think there is no fire in this smoke.

Obviously, whatever is suspected, did not happen, but that does mean that someone didn’t try, or was planning to try, to taint the food supply at an Army base.
