Somehow, I doubt if this is going to go over really well with the other Democrat Congress critters who aren’t in such an ultra safe district as Queen Nancy
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi urged her colleagues to back a major overhaul of U.S. health care even if it threatens their political careers, a call to arms that underscores the issue’s massive role in this election year.
Hey, just a thought, but, if it was a really good piece of legislation, those Dem Electa-Critters wouldn’t have to worry about losing their cushy jobs.
Lawmakers sometimes must enact policies that, even if unpopular at the moment, will help the public, Pelosi said in an interview being broadcast Sunday the ABC News program “This Week.”
“We’re not here just to self-perpetuate our service in Congress,” she said. “We’re here to do the job for the American people.”
And the American people say they do not want your 2,000+ page boondoggle, Nance. But, in one respect, she is correct in that the Founders originally envisioned a system where federal lawmakers had real jobs, and being in Congress was one of those extra things they did, like serving on the PTA or or cleaning up road kill on the weekends.
But, hey, Nancy, if that is what you really believe, why not refuse to run for yet another term?
Gay Patriot, regarding a different section where Nance talks about other unpopular legislation like Social Security and Medicare: “Is Mrs. Pelosi thus suggesting that the Democrats’ proposed health care overhaul will soon also face financial problems?”
