Sheesh, last three new books I read have ended in cliffhangers. In two, the main character is dead. The third, did the bomb go off?
I know for one of them, the character will be back, the last page has a stay tuned message. The other two? I would hope so, being the authors most popular characters.
Name of books below the fold
Jim Butcher “Changes”
Simon Greene “From Hell With Love” (If you love a more modern day magic/scifi blend, check out Greene’s books)
Nelson DeMille “The Lion”
Word to the wise:
Never read a trilogy (it no longer necessarily means three, btw) until the guy is finished writing them.
I know what you mean. I read lots of authors and series which do that, such as the Star Wars books (one was like 17 books long, the current is up to 5, I believe.) Harry Turtledove loves doing that, and he has no problem killing off a main character.
I read a book by fantasy Terry Goodkind, The Sword of Truth. I saw there were 5 more books after it, so I assumed he was done and I could read it right to the end. Man, was I wrong. I finally gave up and accepted defeat after reading the 11th book in the series. He’s never going to finish it!
Thanks for the info about Turtledove. I like not knowing if the characters will survive the ordeal.
Sorry! Actually, that is one of the things Turtledove is known for, to go with his alternate history. Since he writes a lot about alternative war, someone has to go now and then. Well worth the read. The best is his War Between The States series, which starts with How Few Remain, which has the South winning the Civil War, then on to The Great War Trilogy, The American Empire Trilogy, and with the Settling Account series (4 books.) Really awesome, read them at least twice.
Also, In The Presence Of Mine Enemies by Turtledove.
I could probably name a ton of other scifi, that is what I like the most.
