Unsurprisingly, the website is rather self-serving
The Obama administration has launched a new, informational Web site that puts a positive spin on its handling of the Gulf oil spill.
The restorethegulf.gov Web site, launched last week, describes itself as “a one-stop repository for news, data and operational updates related to the administration-wide efforts to stop the BP oil leak.â€
But the Web site also touts the administration’s “quick†response to the disaster, stating that the administration has been on the scene “since the moments after the oil rig explosion†and “from the very beginning.â€
“We are committed to providing the American people access to complete and accurate information about our response to the BP oil spill and the resources available to assist those directly impacted,†said retired United States Coast Guard Admiral Thad Allen in announcing the new Web site.
“RestoreTheGulf.gov will provide even greater transparency and openness about the BP oil spill, our historic response, the tools available to assist Gulf Coast communities, and plans for the region’s long-term recovery and restoration,” he added. (Allen, now working in a civilian capacity, continues to serve as President Obama’s National Incident Commander in the Gulf.)
Transparency! Openness! There from the beginning! Self serving mule fritters, which ignores reality, ignores Obama’s disengagement (and rounds of golf and vacations), and ignores that the federal government seems to be getting in the way more than helping. With this administration, as we have all seen, everything is about the message, not the actions.
The article itself highlights many of the self serving portions, which aren’t just about Obama. Check it out.
What was that old Elvis line?
“A little less talk, a little more action”
Drill Now Drill Here Pay less
why should my tax dollars go to clean up that mess? Isn’t that like SOCIALISM and BIG GOVERNMENT ? Why should I have to pay to clean up some beach I will never use ? If they will not help pay for my healthcare, why should I have to pay to clean up their beach ?
why should my tax dollars go to clean up that mess?
I agree.
That is why your tax dollars AREN’T going to be paying for this. BP is on the hook for the clean-up costs plus $75 million at the Federal level.
At the state and local level, BP is also responsible for the clean-up.
In other words the premise of your question is false.
If they will not help pay for my healthcare, why should I have to pay to clean up their beach ?
So you agree that federally mandated healthcare is wrong?
Gee, you’re learning.
