Obama advisers deny having talks about doing this, but, really, does anyone believe that an administration that has always stayed in campaign mode and has never had a problem with going after private citizens hasn’t discussed this at length?
President Obama’s political advisers, looking for ways to help Democrats and alter the course of the midterm elections in the final weeks, are considering a range of ideas, including national advertisements, to cast the Republican Party as all but taken over by Tea Party extremists, people involved in the discussion said.
“We need to get out the message that it’s now really dangerous to re-empower the Republican Party,†said one Democratic strategist who has spoken with White House advisers but requested anonymity to discuss private strategy talks.
By all means, Obama and Co., go for it. The more you attempt to demonize the TEA Party, made up of private citizens who you will smear, the more this will be covered in the news, and the more people will find out the reality of what they stand for, versus what you stand for, Barry. Limited government, lower taxation, controlled and wise spending, less government interference in our private lives, versus gigantic government, debt and deficits out the ying yang, taxation and redistribution of wealth, high long term unemployment, and complete irresponsibility.
Democrats are divided. The party’s House and Senate campaign committees are resistant, not wanting to do anything that smacks of nationalizing the midterm elections when high unemployment and the drop in Mr. Obama’s popularity have made the climate so hostile to Democrats. Endangered Congressional candidates want any available money to go to their localized campaigns.
Again, go for it. Most Democrats want Obama to stay away from them, and some are even running ads against what the majority of Democrats voted for, namely Obama’s outsourced agenda.
Anyhow, activate the hopeychangey light!
To mobilize younger voters who supported him in 2008, Mr. Obama will hold four big campaign-style rallies, the first Sept. 28 at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, with satellite transmission to campuses in other states. The later rallies will be in Ohio, Philadelphia and Las Vegas. He also will send e-mail and record robocalls to spur voters, and conduct a national “town hall†Webcast in October.
“These events are about activating the Obama grass roots to help organizationally in terms of volunteers†for get-out-the-vote efforts, said Dan Pfeiffer, the White House communications director. “We’re not going to get all the 2008 Obama voters out. We may not get most of them. But in close races, it can be decisive.â€
Obama will offer a few patronizing agenda issues to the Zombies, yet, more than likely, based on some of the emails from Organizing for America I’ve seen lately, they are simply trying to use fear of those scary Republicans to get the young base to go out and vote for …….something. Not quite sure, the emails do not say what Obama and the Democrats will actually do. What exactly is their legislative agenda? What is their agenda for America? How are they going to fix the economy and get these young people into jobs? Of course, much of the base is already demoralized, since the Dems didn’t give them everything they wanted, and are realizing that their progressive ideas a) don’t actually lower costs and b) are responsible for the dire economic conditions getting worse.
Crossed at Right Wing News and Stop The ACLU. Re-Change 2010!
Nothing says safety like having China meet all your mercury filled glassware needs.
Please, please, please, do this Obama! We’d love to have an even larger majority next year!
(And thanks, William, for the Sunday link.)
They still don’t get it. The Tea Party has no more use for the Republican establishment than it does for Obama. We are saying “throw all the bums out”, not just the Democrats.
Amen David.
Mary Fallin is my Repub candidate for governor in my state. She is actually running ads attacking Obama’s stimulus, ObamaCare, and masive bailouts.
Except, she voted for those bailouts when she was a Rep.
Her Dem opponent is a home-grown conservative that has garnered lots and lots of support as she has climbed the ranks of power. I don’t even have much to say against her. I may vote Dem for gov just to slap Mary down a notch.
I have asked Mary Fallin if she would repeal the ability of illegals to get in-state tuition at our colleges (don’t even know why they are allowed to attend), but she has yet to respond.
