James Clyburn: Vote Dem, And We’ll Pass The Public Option, Which Is Like The Civil Rights Bill

James Clyburn (D-SC6) shows once again why Democrats are going to get trounced: they really don’t understand the mood of the American Public

Democrats could revive the public healthcare option if they maintain their majorities in Congress, the House Democrats’ third-ranking member said Friday.

“Reelect me, keep Democrats on the field. And when we come back next year, maybe we will get to the public option,” Majority Whip James Clyburn (S.C.) said during an appearance on the Tom Joyner Morning Show.

The GOP should turn that into a campaign ad, hitting the Dems for wanting to continue to push their government takeover of the health industry while the economy and jobs market burn. But, wait, it gets even better!

“It’s a tough climate out here, almost like after the [passage of] the 1964 Civil Rights Act,” Clyburn said. “What we’ve got to do — what Democrats got to do — is get out here and let people know that … we led a good foundation.”

Fucking seriously? Did he just really equate the two?

I’M PROUD OF YOU LABOR!. Keep standing up. The lives and health of all the American people and the World are in serious jeopardy.

Further, unemployment healthcare benefits are critically needed. But they should be provided through the Medicare program at cost, less the 65% government premium subsidy provided now to private for profit health insurance.

Congress should stop wasting hundreds of millions of dollars of taxpayer money on private for profit health insurance subsidies. Subsidies that cost the taxpayer 10x as much or more than Medicare does. Private for profit health insurance plans cost more. But provide dangerous and poorer quality patient care.

It’s over. Tell congress to get the healthcare Merchants of death and injury out of the American peoples lives for good. 2010 is about THE PUBLIC OPTION!

And that CORRUPT! UNDEMOCRATIC! filibuster must GO! NOW!

I want to commend all of you for working so hard and being so strong at helping the whitehouse and congress begin to address our U.S. and Global healthcare crisis. You have been AWESOME! my fellow Americans and peoples of the World. America and the World is better and safer for it. My greatest pride is the knowledge that I am one of you. And that you really get it. You really understand the importance of it all.

There are some potentially very good things in the healthcare legislation. Especially with the reconciliation fix’s. The Democrats, Bernie Sanders and the Whitehouse did a GREAT! job of fighting to produce the best healthcare legislation that they could. They have earned all our strong support. And we should give it to them.

But it was your relentless pressure and hard work that made the difference. Whatever good comes from this healthcare legislation, America and the peoples of the World will have each of you to thank. You were smart, creative, courageous and relentless. You fought together for the best legislation possible. And when you had to, you fought alone. No matter who stumbled and fell you continued to push and forge ahead. Fighting for the lives and health of the American people and the World. YOU SHOULD BE PROUD OF YOUR-SELVES :-)

It may come to pass that future generations will look back on us and say that we were ALL Americas Greatest Generations. And that healthcare reform was our finest hour. You should be proud of our leaders President Obama, Speaker Pelosi, Majority Leader Reid and the many other Democratic and independent fighters for the people in congress. They proved them-self worthy of the leadership of a GREAT! PEOPLE.

But we are not done yet. This was just the beginning of healthcare reform, not the end. WE THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES, ARE NOT! divided on healthcare legislation. The vast majority of you have been consistently crystal clear that this legislation does not go far enough. You want a strong Government-run Public Option CHOICE!! available to everyone on day one. And you want it NOW!

YOU MUST NOT ALLOW AN INDIVIDUAL MANDATE TO STAND WITHOUT A STRONG GOVERNMENT-RUN PUBLIC OPTION CHOICE! AVAILABLE TO EVERYONE.

WE THE PEOPLE have been crystal clear that we want an end to dependence on for-profit healthcare and the for-profit proxies called private for non-profit healthcare. The American people want the CHOICE! of a strong Government-run Public Option to replace their need or dependence on healthcare providers whose primary motivation is profit. Rather than providing the highest quality, easiest accessible and most affordable medically necessary healthcare possible. This is what the rest of the developed World has. And the American people want it too. They want healthcare ASSURANCE! Not, for-profit health insurance. And they want it NOW!

Now is the time to continue the push for a strong Government-run Public Option CHOICE! available to everyone that wants it on day one. Rationally it’s clear what we have to do to get this done. SUPPORT THE DEMOCRATS that supported you with a Public Option choice, and REMOVE as many republicans as you can. Not one republican in congress was willing to step across the isle to support a strong Government-run Public Option CHOICE!! available to everyone on day one. NOT ONE! Let no candidate prevail this November that does not support a Strong Government-run Public Option.

47,000 AMERICANS die each year from lack of healthcare. 120,000 die from treatable illness that don’t die in other developed countries. Hundreds of thousands of you are dieing from medical accidents in a rush to profit. And Millions of you are injured. Millions more are driven into bankruptcy. All for the privilege of paying two to three times as much as any other people in the developed world for healthcare. HOGWASH!

Additionally, tens of thousands of you and your children were killed and millions sickened and injured from a terror attack with H1N1 (swine flu). Released on the American people and the World by the for-profit healthcare industry. All in an attempt to panic and frighten you into accepting the oxymoronic criminal enterprise of private for-profit healthcare (The most costly, deadly, dangerous, and disgraceful product sold in America). H1N1 is still sickening people and killing them. Especially children, the young and the middle aged. And there will be a third wave. These are the terrorist you need to worry about the most. Even the so-called international terrorist would not do something so INSANE! But greed driven medical profiteers would and did.

Apparently as far as republicans in GOVERNMENT are concerned, YOU! my fellow Americans – CAN JUST DROP DEAD! Including their own family members. Fools!… Hundreds of thousands of you, and possibly millions of you will die from the long-term effects of your infection and poisoning with H1N1.

So my fellow Human Beings. Rest-up, Take good care of the basics (Balanced nutrition, hydration, exercise, rest and POSITIVE emotional supports). Then wade back into the FIGHT! for a strong Government-run Public Option CHOICE! available to everyone on day one. Drug re-importation, Abolishment or strong restrictions on patents for biologic and prescription drugs. And government controlled and negotiated drug and medical cost. You must take back control of your healthcare system from the Medical Industrial Complex. You MUST do it NOW! This is a matter of National and Global security. There can be NO MORE EXCUSES.

God Bless You My Fellow Human Beings. I’m glad to know of you. And proud to be one of you.

See you on the battle field.

    Sincerely

    jacksmith – WorkingClass :-)

    jack,
You have a problem. You really don’t understand the health care industry. I would recommend that you obtain a bit more knowledge and then take a course or two in logic. All of your data is wrong. I have been in medicine for over 40 years and can assure you that the problems and cost all started with the intrusion of the Federal government into the system. If we have socialzed medicine in the US, it will bankrupt the country. The quality will definitely fall.

And on the flu thing. That was your good old government. The health industry got out of the vaccine business many years ago and only one or two companies produce the stuff. They don’t make much money doing so. But the H1N1 was a big, huge, over blown mistake by the Feds. Expect more of this with Obamacare.

  3. michelle says:

    david,
although you do have this experience in medicine, i’m surprised/shocked that you’re soooooo off target here in everything you say. the main problem is the nasty for-profit insurance companies. the united states is the only country in the developed world that still allows insurance companies to make profits off of people’s healthcare.

and your closing line could NOT be any more far from the truth. obamacare doesn’t do all these things you say, nor what the fear-mongering republicans say either. unfortunately the bill isn’t as liberal as it should be, no public option nor anything else liberal. they just try to curtail insurance dirty work which denies people coverage once they’re in the hospital after they dig something up in their record.

and MOST IMPORTANTLY, socialized medicine will not bankrupt our country but instead it’s the other way around. how is it that the united states ranks 39th in healthcare but we spend twice more than any other nation? i really REALLY think you should educate yourself a little more on this stuff before you start scaring people on socialized medicine. let this be a start http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/08/21/AR2009082101778.html

  4. David says:

    michelle,
Amazing, what is your url, the White House or maybe DNC. You want me to get my information from the Washington Post? You have got to be joking. The fact of the matter is that we can’t afford Medicare and Medicaid. Now the government is taking on everyone else. The result has already been about a 20% increase in the cost of premiums. That is only the start. Obama was very happy with his bill and felt that the public option was the default insurance at the end of the day. In fact, they told the Dems to shut up and vote it is as the bill was what they wanted. If you want a good example of socialized medicine, go to a VA. Look up morbidity and mortality at the VA. If that does not scare you then something is wrong. I have worked in socialized hospitals in this country and can tell you that it is horrible. I really don’t like the insurance companies but would trust them far more than the govenment. As to making a profit, when was that a sin? If you don’t want to pay your doctor or health care insurance don’t. No one is forcing you to go to the hospital.

In fact, liberals are responsible for the mess with health care delivery. Prior to 1913 you could buy any drug on the market and take care of yourself. Then they forced you to go to a doctor to get any drugs or care. The president responsible, Wilson. Thus allow people freedom and allow them to buy what drugs they want. I spent 13 years in school and training and I am not about to share that skill and knowledge with you without pay that I feel is appropriate.

  5. michelle says:

    david,
you say a lot about yourself when you refuse to read something someone suggests for you to read. the fact that you’re tooo close-minded to read something because of who published it makes me feel like i’m taking to a 5-year-old who is stuck in their ways. maybe if you read it and commented about what was said in it i’d take you a little more seriously. they do a lot of things right and we do a lot of things wrong, it just suggests some different ideas. there is no right answer which is why we are discussing the different sides. all i’m saying is that it’s going to be impossible to compete with these countries in the future who have healthy people and cheap healthcare when our country is one big mess

and the whole free-market approach to healthcare doesn’t really work if you want a productive society (people need to be healthy to work, remember). of course there needs to be a market of sorts in order to have competition an quality, but we’re talking about denying people the healthcare they need to LIVE. that is how insurance companies make their money, that and other dirty acts. we’re not talking about what kind of car they can drive or having a tv, we’re takling about people being able to be alive. with 20%+ administrative costs and their main incentive to make money, i’m not sure why you would trust the insurance companies. they don’t want you to be healthy nor covered, they want your money. at least a government wants healthy people so they’ll have a productive economy.

oh and yeah sure, let people pop pills left and right, and let’s legalize all the other drugs while we are there since they are drugs and some people think they help. let’s see where that gets us. let’s also take away stoplights and stop signs, because i don’t need anyone telling me when i have to stop and go. i need to get where i’m going, i’ll be careful though, i promise.

  6. David says:

    michelle,
When you mature you will understand what I am talking about. I certainly hope that you get your socialized medicine. I would like to see your attitude then. The reason that the system is so messed up right now is because of our government interference since 1985. As to the article, I have heard and read the same crap for the last 40 years and could repeat the article verbatum without even seeing it. Do you still believe in Santa?

  7. michelle says:

so do you sell the drugs or just make them?

i dont think socialized care is the solution in our country, i just think we should impose some limits on the insurance industry, pharmaceuticals and others. it’s important look to other countries who do stuff better than us to try to learn something. as of now i really don’t feel like the healthcare system is doing its job.

and please don’t talk to me about maturing i also have many years of education and work within the healthcare field. maybe not as many as you, but that’s probably why i’m not so stubborn to trying something different.

  8. David says:

    michelle,
I have enough years to know that we had a very good system of health care prior to the significant govenment interference that started in the 80’s. If government got out and eliminated all the regulations and fines and rules and other trash, that alone would drop the cost of care 30%. As to regulating the insurance companies, they are getting that and the regulations are the problem. All insurcance companies are regulated at the state level and the states put junk in the regulations that all of us across the country have to pay for. Obama made that worse intentionally, so we could not ultimately afford insurcance and have to turn to he government.

  9. michelle says:

    david,
i don’t really know where you get your statistics from, but you’re saying get the government out and then everyone will be covered and it’ll be cheaper? sure, when pigs fly. why don’t the insurance companies stop pumping so much money to politicians then they can drop rates if they want to save the consumer so much money?

and since when is not letting insurance companies deny people coverage for pre-existing conditions (even when they’re as minimal as migraines or tendonitis) making it worse?

i just disagree with you grandpa. but good thing you have all your tea party supporters

  10. David says:

    teach,
I think you have a shill on the site. Michelle has appeared on several other sites, notably “So in goes in Shreveport”, and has used the same verbage as demonstrated here. I suspect she might be from one of the far left, commie organizations and is used to cast a positive light on the Obamacare mess and to say as many ugly things as possible about insurance companies.

You might want to check it out. If I am right it is a great complement to you and your efforts to be singled out.

  11. michelle says:

i hope you’re kidding. it shouldn’t be a surprise that more than one person has a different view from you. since when is sharing an opinion on a website considered a conspiracy? you know, it’s not paranoia when they’re really after you…
