No, no, the media and the DNC never co-ordinate their talking points. This smacks of desperation. First we get Top Corporations Aid U.S. Chamber of Commerce Campaign on page A1 of the NY Times
Prudential Financial sent in a $2 million donation last year as the U.S. Chamber of Commerce kicked off a national advertising campaign to weaken the historic rewrite of the nation’s financial regulations.
Dow Chemical delivered $1.7 million to the chamber last year as the group took a leading role in aggressively fighting proposed rules that would impose tighter security requirements on chemical facilities.
And Goldman Sachs, Chevron Texaco, and Aegon, a multinational insurance company based in the Netherlands, donated more than $8 million in recent years to a chamber foundation that has been critical of growing federal regulation and spending. These large donations — none of which were publicly disclosed by the chamber, a tax-exempt group that keeps its donors secret, as it is allowed by law — offer a glimpse of the chamber’s money-raising efforts, which it has ramped up recently in an orchestrated campaign to become one of the most well-financed critics of the Obama administration and an influential player in this fall’s Congressional elections.
Remember the days when the media would spend most of their time watching the government, rather than private entities? Yeah, I know, it has been a while. Then, on page A18 of the print edition, front page of the Internet edition, Big Gifts to G.O.P. Groups Push Donor to New Level
When Bob Perry, a wealthy home builder from Texas, emerged six years ago as a prime financer of the Swift Boat Veterans attack ads against Senator John Kerry, the 2004 Democratic presidential nominee, the political strategist Karl Rove was there to vouch for Mr. Perry.
Now Mr. Rove and his party are benefiting from his old friend’s largess once again, as new federal disclosure reports this week showed that Mr. Perry has given $7 million since September to American Crossroads, the conservative group Mr. Rove helped start. Mr. Perry was the group’s biggest donor.
And that same drum-beat continues, highlighting other big donors, who are…wait, they’re not breaking the law? Everything is legal? They’re just doing what the big Democrat backers, like George Soros and Peter Lewis, among others, have and are doing. I guess when the donations going to Republicans and Conservative groups, it’s somehow sleazy and wrong.
Then we have The Politico
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is pouring almost $10 million into House campaigns and millions more into Senate contests in the closing month of the midterm elections.
But this year, Boehner has broadened his strategy as he tries to position himself as the next House speaker. He has transferred more than $320,000 of his business-funded war chest to 39 avowedly anti-establishment candidates who have been endorsed by elements of the tea party.
The compliant liberal media seem fired up about this issue. The People seem fired up about the Democrats ineptitude and willful destruction of the economy. A stagnant high unemployment rate. Low consumer confidence. Low GDP. Things not getting better after the recession was supposed to have ended 16 months ago. And business is concerned about the Democrats assault on the private sector, and would like to see a return to stable policies which let the economy expand. No real shocker they would give money to put Republicans back in office.
