It’s still a bit early in the day, though
They’re all the rage — fliers’ rage — the controversial new pat-down procedures used by government airport security screeners.
Do you get the feeling that the folks at ABC News find the whole thing amusing? That they think you, the American public, are just silly people, and should stop it now? (Been a while since I made a Python reference)
But airports were quiet this morning with few people opting out of the controversial full body scanners despite promises to do everything from wearing “Don’t Touch My Junk” T-shirts to kilts with nothing underneath.
TSA Administrator John Pistole told “Good Morning America” today that his workers hadn’t seen evidence that travelers were making good on vows to bypass scanners in favor of a full pat down by TSA agents, but that the agency is prepared nonetheless.
“The bottom line is that if a number of people protest at a particular checkpoint it will definitely slow things down,” Pistole said. “I just feel bad for the rest of the traveling public that’s trying to get home for the holidays to be with their loved ones.”
He obviously doesn’t feel bad for all the grandmothers, breast and bladder cancer survivors, and small children who have been groped in the name of “security”, people who are truly no danger. You know what’s really “funny”? We have yet to hear any complaints from a Muslim, the people who are primarily responsible for the need for all this security, going back to the days when they said we could no longer greet our friends, family, and/or loved ones at the actual arrival gate. For those of you too young to experience this, yes, that actually used to happen.
But, Los Federales may not stop there, as the Hill reports
The next step in tightened security could be on U.S. public transportation, trains and boats.
Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano says terrorists will continue to look for U.S. vulnerabilities, making tighter security standards necessary.
“[Terrorists] are going to continue to probe the system and try to find a way through,†Napolitano said in an interview that aired Monday night on “Charlie Rose.”
And then they will just look for different ways to hit us. Do you get the feeling that this is all really not about actual security itself, but about the appearance of being seen as “Doing Something”? Also, if I were a conspiracy kind of person, I would think that the Government is attempting to better control our movements, and/or find ways to get people to stop traveling so much, which would reduce the US’s carbon footprint.
Crossed at Right Wing News and Stop The ACLU. sit back and Relax. we’ll dRive!
so the right wing opt out day failed ?
Hate to ruin your day, John, but, the opt out day wasn’t a rightwing thing. Nor is opposition to the groping, er, enhanced pat downs. Folks on both sides of the political spectrum are up in arms over this issue.
Pretty much the only ones who are trying to defend it are the in the bag liberal media and Obamazombies like you.
If you are really a true liberal, you would be against what is going on as an affront to civil liberties.
Alas, you are too brainwashed.
