And here we go again
Climate change bringing floods and drought, growing biofuel demand and national policies to protect domestic markets could drive up global food prices and threaten long-term food security, the United Nations said.
The obvious answer is to spend lots of money to supposedly lower the average Earth temperature by a negligible amount, and give up much of your liberty. I’m guessing floods never happened before 1980, either. And then there are biofuels, a bad idea to a fake situation.
High and volatile food prices are a growing global concern, partly fuelling the protests that toppled the rulers of Tunisia and Egypt this year. The aftershocks have been seen across North Africa and the Middle East from Algeria to Yemen.
Periods of price volatility are not new to agriculture, but recent price shocks triggered by extreme weather and increasing use of grains to produce energy have caused great concern, the U.N.’s Food and Agriculture Organisation said.
And extreme weather is caused by Zandar using energy to publish a blog (I figured I’d spread some of the blame to liberals). It’s not extreme: it’s what has always happened. Enough. Move on. But, I told you food security would become a bigger climate moron talking point, and they are beating the drum, and the media is complying.
Food volatility?
Tell me about volatility when the US is using 40% of our corn (a major food substance directly and indirectly in thousands of products) is now going to Ethanol.
Doesn’t that just taste good.
This also doesn’t count all the other countries that are doing the exact same thing.
And we wonder why food prices are going up?
In other words, its the eco-nazis and liberal America-haters that have caused millions of people to starve to death and these Mid-east countries to fall through violence.
Thanks!!
“they are beating the drum,”
It never ceases to amaze, the different things that Manic Progressives can substitute for thinking.
It’s funny that all the folks who were so quick to Blame Bush never blame any of the culprits, like Al Gore, for the food security issues we are seeing today

Wasn’t it the liberals who were so hot for alternative fuels in the first place? It seems like every alternative energy source that the “Greenies” have fought for, they now fight just as vociferously against because of some unforeseen problem with it.
Solar panels are an eyesore and take up too much room. Windmills are unsightly, probably kill birds and make a horrific noise when in operation. Imagine that.
It’s not about energy Mike, it’s about control, pure power. It’s about making us beg for every scrap we want. He who controls the goodies, is king. And Obama would love to be that!
I also hear there’s an opening for a Mahdi these days…perhaps if he loses the elction of 2012?
hahahaahahahahaha.. Trish. You seem to be an expert at that trowel.
Part of me is starting to think he may not want the control. I am beginning to believe that its not the control, but just the destruction of our energy supplies, and our ability to produce anything using energy.
To control a thing, the thing has to be around. He has stopped Gulf Shore drilling. Am sure he is going to expand to eliminate all offshore drilling. Some coal fields have been denied. ANWR is a no go. Solar is being denied left and right.
We only have 1 nuclear plant under consideration right now and who knows how many decades it will take to get through just the red tape.
Remember, Obama was happy to mention his plans to make energy prices skyrocket.
His plans are working. Energy prices (along with food and clothing) are skyrocketing and he (and his ilk) is killing off as many sources of energy as they can.
Amen Cap’n- he’s hitting us from all sides.
