I thought about making everyone take a guess, but, hey, it’s Friday morning, almost time to take the thinking caps off for the weekend, and really, I doubt anyone would have a tough time figuring out what this far left progressive would want to do
Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-Ill.) said he stood-by a proposal he made last week that could result in the federal government providing an Ipad for every student in the nation, despite a barrage of criticism he has suffered from the media in recent days.
“Let me be clear about a few things,” Jackson said, brandishing both an Apple iPad and an Amazon Kindle on the House floor. “These devices are revolutionizing our country — and they will fundamentally alter how we will educate our children.”
So, since they will “fundamentally alter” education (and, I’ll admit, I LOVE my Kindle, and just ordered an Android tablet. And, shockingly, I paid for them myself without government help!), obviously
Jackson is promoting his idea to amend the Constitution so that it guarantees every American the right to an equal education. Under that amendment Congress would be given discretion to implement the educational reforms which, Jackson said, may lead to an iPad, Kindle, or Nook for every schoolchild.
Or, people could simply purchase them for their own kids. You can get a Kindle Wi-Fi for $139. You can get a cheap Android tablet for $200 and under. Why is it the first thought of any liberal to use Someone Else’s money to buy things for other people?
Jackson launched a lengthy defense of his proposal on the House floor, arguing that technology is a product of the First Amendment, and also necessary to help maintain First Amendment rights.
Um, OK. Whatever you say, Jesse, Jr. Will you and dear old dad start shaking down Apple, Amazon, and Barnes and Noble?
Obviously, this is important enough to him to put on his Congressional website….wait, it isn’t?
Aaron Worthington, over at Patterico’s Pontifications, had an interesting take on the story when it Jesse first brought the idea up
Joking aside, this is the fundamental shift in the relationship between the individual and the state that is being brought about by Obamacare. The state becomes the provider of everything. And the government big enough to give you everything is the government powerful enough to take it away.

I think he also wants an amendment to provide a house for every American.
What happens when the iPad is outdated?
Have we just thrown away a lot of money?
What happens when one is lost? Do the parents (who couldn’t pay for the thing to begin with) have to pay for a replacement?
What happens with the infrastructure to pay for the added bandwidth to power these things?
Jackson is an idiot.
Funny, my kids don’t have any of those items. I don’t let them use the computer for homework and they don’t have social networking sites that they visit. Yet somehow all 3 are straight A students and have lots of friends.
Guess the old fasion book, paper and pencil work just fine. Plus the exercise they get walking to their friends house and playing outside helps keep them fit.
