But, remember, unions are somehow all about the kids
Registered nurses at Children’s Hospital Oakland walked off their jobs Thursday morning in the first day of a five-day strike that centers on disputes over health care benefits and other proposed changes to their contract.
The more than 700 registered nurses at Children’s, represented by California Nurses Association-National Nurses United, have been trying to negotiate a contract for more than a year.
“It’s not that we want a whole lot more,” said Pam Bennett, a nurse at the hospital for 30 years who was on the picket line Thursday. “It’s just that we don’t want things taken away that we already have.”
Welcome to the real world. We see exactly where the priorities of the unions lay, and it is all about enriching themselves on the backs of everyone else. Ever notice that the liberal concept of “shared burden” fly out the window when they have to actually share the burden themselves?
Oh, and just to be clear, this is in the highly liberal Oakland area, just in case you missed it.
Also in the area, Zombie catches the SEIU going full on commie. Make site you check the pictorial.

There isn’t a writer or blogger who doesn’t know how this line got in the post. :)
Stupid iPhone does some weird things with spellcheck :)
Yeah, sure Teach. Blame it on technology.
Maybe Obama should come back down there and picket with them telling them that everyone needs to sacrifice during these hard economic times. And that he might have to raise their taxes for the poor immigrant children who receive their services.
The next time you hear a union teacher or nurse say it’s not about the money, hold on to your wallet.
Well, they’re doing what union members do. I hope for the kids’ sake someone is covering for them. My sisters were nurses and used to have to move beds and furniture around when the hospital rooms were painted because the painters’ union contract said that the painters (big burly men, from what my sister said) wouldn’t do it. I generally hate unions, but nurses were treated shabbily in the bad old days.
