Paul Ryan Hits Back At Newt Gingrich

Way to start your campaign, Newt!

Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) took a swipe Monday at Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich after the former House Speaker criticized hiss proposed Medicare reforms.

“With allies like that, who needs the left?” Ryan told guest host Raymond Arroyo on conservative talker Laura Ingraham’s radio show.

Gingrich on Sunday distanced himself from Ryan’s plan, which would transform the program into a voucher-based system for Americans under the age of 55.

“I don’t think right-wing social engineering is any more desirable than left-wing social engineering,” Gingrich said of Ryan’s plan on NBC’s “Meet the Press” on Sunday. “I don’t think imposing radical change from the right or the left is a very good way for a free society to operate.”

I’m not quite sure what Newt thinks he is doing. No one on the Left is going to come to his side and vote for him. He’s managing to tick off Conservatives/TEA Party members, and it’s only 5 days since he announced. There are only so many middle ground voters. He’s already managed to annoy the Right with his globull warming video with Pelosi.

Newt should do like Donald Trump, and just give up his presidential aspirations. Not in print quite yet, but TV is announcing The Donald is not going to run.

DrewM at Ace of Spades savages Newt, and reminds us that Newt’s support can be rather….situational.

I was warming to the idea of a NEwt presidency, until this came out. Actually, when I heard he was considering Condi, who I like in theory but is pro-choice, I worried he was heading off in a different direction. He lost me now, by tearing Ryan’s plan apart, and also when I heard him explain that we should all be responsible for other’s healthcare.
Get over it Newt. I am not responsible for anyone’s healthcare but my own.
And I clearly remember the days when healthcare coverage was purely emergency room and hospitalization. We had four children, and we paid out of pocket for doctor bills and prescriptions. These things were a lot cheaper then- because insurance was out of the equation. No ridiculous paperwork (insurance related) for MD’s offices to deal with and same for pharmacies. I’d go back in a heartbeat; and people would be less inclined to abuse the system, with endless MD appts, if they had to pay for each visit.

  2. Excellent points, Trish. Newt is all over the map, but, seems to be pushing the Big Federal Government POV.

I’ve never been a big fan of him, and that globull warming vid was the end. If, God forbid, he gets the nomination, I’ll hold my nose and vote for him, cause he’s still better than Obama. I think he would be bad for limited gov’t, much like Bush was. But, he’s not likable like Bush.

I’m with ya Teach. He’s not my chohice unless it’s against a Democrat- in particular Obama. Why is this so hard for Republicans to put forth a decent candidate? Is it because we truly are the party of inclusiveness; enveloping so many ideologies libertarian, conservative religious small government republicans- unlike Democrats who have just one big liberal world view?
Wish I knew, wish we could come up with one sane person to elect.

Because the decent conservative candidates know that they will get savaged and beaten up by the MSM, AND get no support at all from the RNC.

Newt won’t get the nod. Not at all. Not with his stances on Global Warming and Gov’t Mandates.

Remember, for being such a “teacher”, and loudly proclaiming that the Republican message needs to get out, he sure lost the 1994 Republican message really fast.

He allowed the Socialists to control the message.

Now we know, he’s ok with that message after all. SAD!!!

I’d vote for Hilary before I vote for him. She at least seems to be pro-US … although anti-Israel again.

  5. Trish says:

Yup Captain, that’s true. And aren’t we all tired of saying it but, how come liberals get away with pounding conservatives unmercifully, even to attacking their family, but the minute a conservative says negative things about a liberal, the whole world is aghast at their cruelty?
