Hey, I’m just using Obama math, since @amandacarpenter was wondering if anyone could put together a count of the arrests
(MSNBC) New York City police clashed with Occupy Wall Street protesters and arrested at least four of them after owners of the park being occupied ditched cleanup plans that demonstrators claimed were a pretext to evict them.
Amid what was described as a celebratory march by the protesters, scattered clashes were reported with police, who bulked up their presence at the Zuccotti Park location, which has been home for hundreds of the protesters.
Remember all the Tea Party arrests? No? Oh. Over to other spots, via the same story
Meantime, Occupy Seattle protesters running a live video feed from their corporate power protest at Seattle’s Westlake Park said police started making arrests Thursday.
So, using modern technology produced by corporations?
“It has remained non-violent, the energy at Westlake is high but peaceful,” the Occupy Seattle group said on its website after 10 protesters were arrested.
In Denver, police and troopers moved in after protesters ignored a deadline of 11 p.m. Thursday to leave or face arrest.
Wes Gentry, a city desk reporter at the Denver Post, tweeted that officers moved in and knocked down tents at the protest in a park near the Capitol.
The ACLU is deeming the construction of tents in Denver as a free speech right
(9News) Xcel was on the scene, trying to cut power to the tent city. Officials say the protesters tapped into the electricity of park structures (like lighting fixtures, etc.) to run their equipment. Xcel is repairing the damage the protesters caused, structure by structure.
So, they caused damage and were stealing.
In Austin, 4 were arrested for trespassing after refusing to leave the protest area while it was cleaned, sanitized, fumigated, and checked to see if it needed to be condemned and made a Superfund site. In Chicago, 21 were arrested for dumping garbage in a Bank of America branch. In Sacramento, 39 have been arrested so far. And the list goes on and on. Just wait till the weekend.
And, now, up to Boston (via Weasel Zippers)
BOSTON (FOX 25) — The Coast Guard in Boston confirmed that a woman in uniform was harassed and spat upon near Occupy Boston protesters.
The woman was walking to the train and said protesters spit on her twice, called her foul names and even threw a water bottle at her.
You stay classy, liberals.
