(Apparently, I never hit “Publish” before leaving this morning)
Over at Right Wing News, former Ron Paul staffer Eric Dondero has quite a bit to say about RONPAUL2012!!!!!!!1!!!! and some of it is decidedly unflattering to Rep. Paul. He says Paul is not a racist (which may be true, but, Paul still has a lot to answer for regarding the perceived racism in the newsletters published in Paul’s name) nor an anti-Semite, but is very much anti-Israel. Ron is not a homophobe, but, is uncomfortable around gays.
Donder says that Paul is most assuredly an isolationist, and that his foreign policy is Paul’s big problem. Also,
Ron Paul was opposed to the War in Afghanistan, and to any military reaction to the attacks of 9/11.
He did not want to vote for the resolution. He immediately stated to us staffers, me in particular, that Bush/Cheney were going to use the attacks as a precursor for “invading†Iraq. He engaged in conspiracy theories including perhaps the attacks were coordinated with the CIA, and that the Bush administration might have known about the attacks ahead of time. He expressed no sympathies whatsoever for those who died on 9/11, and pretty much forbade us staffers from engaging in any sort of memorial expressions, or openly asserting pro-military statements in support of the Bush administration.
So, Paul is pretty much a 9/11 Truther. Do we really need a pure bat guano crazy conspiracy theorist running as the GOP nominee? Hell no!
Ron Paul is a LOON and how Kentucky managed to elect a senator cut from the same tree is mind boggling.
That shows how fed up Kentucky was with big government, pseudocommie policy by our daddies fully infiltrated democratic party.
Even the Communist Party of America fully endorses and puts up links to Barak Obama and the Democratic party now without even trying to hide their intentions…….
and you daddies democratic party……..heartily endorse their support.
Im afraid it is so Mikey and the MSM shouted AMEN……Conservatives are EVIL….praise Obama.
Exactly how is Paul a loon?
And, how is Paul a truther?
Paul postulated that there may be a tie between Bush and the attacks on the toweres. This would not be the first time that a president has allowed attacks to occur. FDR did this with Pearl Harbor. LBJ manufactured the Gulf of Tonkin. So how can we critize Paul for a conspiracy coming to mind? I don’t really think that Bush conspired in this action as I don’t think either he or Clinton had enough sense to do such a thing. But Bush sure made hay while the sun shined.
david from the sounds of your arguments you are a libertarian and the debate would be endless.
You believe in NO government……….that is lunacy. The very idea of 300 million people being run by a government that meets every other year and has the power to oversee nothing is pure nonsense.
This is not 1787 and while I understand and believe in the constitution to be interpreted as it was written…..libertarians believe that ONLY THEY know the true meaning of the constitution and that makes them loons.
period.
Any argument YOU or Ron Paul put forth is pure preaching to the choir…….the problem is if you preach long enough, loud enough and without respite….more and more people start thinking what your preaching is the truth…and the way it outta be.
Just ask progressives……libertarians are no different then progressives….they just have a differing message and they both believe they are right.
and their hero is?
Ron Paul….cause hes literally the only libertarian whose ever made it to congress….
but that dont make him right.
Word,
You are the one that labeled libertarians don’t want any government. That is not true except from a theoritical concept. Are you saying that you can justify the EPA, the Educational department, the department of energy and all you other junk we have? Are you saying that roving squads of the TSA stopping any one any where is in the 4th amendmant? WE have a choice with Paul, it is either Obama and communism or a return to a smaller, less intrusive government. Paul, as a physician, wants to eliminate our drug laws. As a physician, I totally agree and many of my peers feel the same way. Our drug laws are senseless and take away a large chunk of our liberty. There is no way you can rationally defend them. Yet all the politicians will fight tooth and nail to keep them in place. From my aspect, if we don’t go for someone like Paul, then we are stuck on stupid.
Are you saying that you can justify the EPA, the Educational department, the department of energy and all you other junk we have?
Yes they can be justified. 300 million people with roving bands of pure free enterprise and it would be only the strong survive.
Government is essential…important and necessary. Every government that has ever collapsed is because of the people turning on each other and the government and replacing it with……..
Another government. Man is meant to be ruled. He is a social animal.
If we throw out all the EPA regulations and the department itself and let the acid rain continue it would be a barren wasteland in the northeast….the EPA stepped in and made them clean it up…the people screamed, the right screamed but we got clean air and clean water and clean environment.
If we throw out the Dept of education we end up with 50 states dictating to its students how to do things……Either way we will have the same tax burden because if we paid the federal government LESS….we would pay the state government MORE….
Its how it works and on paper the libertarians view of the world is just mahvelous……..
In theory its flawed to the core because it relies on flawed people driven by greed to over see themselves…….right…..
Like thats gonna happen in this world.
I rarely will debate with a libertarian because they are convinced beyond a doubt that they are right and everyone else is wrong.
Yet those same libertarians will avail themselves of every government service provided.
I wonder how many roads mom and pop freight would have constructed by now?
I wonder how many water purification plants would be operating if we had a Ron Paul world.
I am making the progressive argument but it is a sound one.
Progressives want MORE AND MORE government and libertarians want LESS AND LESS government.
The trick is to find the balancing act of not too much and not too little.
We need to be governed. We need government to do things that the private sector is not going to do……
Like:
build roads, bridges, sewers, interstate highways, railroads, explore space, provide for the needy and indigent. Provide a strong military and secure our borders.
The Government is just not about being a military. Look at all those third world nations that have a big military and the people live in squalor….thats America under a libertarian leadership.
Look at the USSR……..thats America under progressive leadership.
The trick is always finding a balancing act between too much and too little…..
Right now libertarians think Conservatives want the government downsized to irrelevance. That is not true….and that is why the battle now rages for the Republican party…….
Because if the libertarians (aka tea partiers) win the day then conservatives will be independents just like classical liberals are now independents.
And Im sick and tired of libertarians cloaking themselves in TRUE CONSERVATIVISM……and Sarah Palin calling herself a Constitutional Conservative……….pandering to both conservatives and libertarians.
The reality is that the GOP is in as much disarray as is the Democrats…..remember we are only 3 years removed from a thorough trouncing at the polls……Americans dont want what the right is preaching any more then what the left is preaching…..
Because both are awfully freakin scary right now and your point man is Ron Paul. I rest my case.
