You remember Fisker, right? They received Stimulus money to build more “green” cars, some of them outsourced to Finland, some of them almost $100,000, and all way behind planned production time (partly because of Government regulatory hurdles. #Irony). And let’s not forget
The Fisker commitment was questioned by some from the start, partly because of the company’s political connections. A key investor is a venture capital firm, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, whose partners include former Democratic vice president Al Gore. The investment house raised $2 million for Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign.
Now we find out
(The Politico) In another setback for President Obama’s clean energy loan programs, the recipient of more than a half-billion dollars in federal loans is laying off workers at their Delaware and California operations.
Delaware’s News Journal reports that Fisker Automotive, a California-based electric car start-up company, is laying off an undisclosed number of staff to try to reserve enough capital in order to qualify for more federal help from the Department of Energy, according to a Delaware state development official.
Let me get this straight: they’re going to lay off an undisclosed amount of people in order to save money to get more federal grants to…well that seems all there is. They aren’t really building a product, they’ve already wasted 500 billion dollars in US taxpayer money to build no product, and now they plan on laying off the few people they’ve already hired. So they can get more taxpayer money. Writing it either way seems like I’m attending the Red Queen’s Tea Party.
Good thing Sheriff Joe Biden is keeping a good eye on all the Stimulus money, eh? Republicans need to beat Obama around the head (metaphorically. Unbelievable that I actually have to explain that in this day and age) for this latest issue.
According to the Socialists in charge, this is the perfect example of Capitalism.
Company gets money, finds it needs to downsize in order to get more money. Voila’
(funny how they ignore that this is not a product the market wants or that the gov’t is the sole reason for its existence)
“In another setback for President Obama’s clean energy loan programs,…”
Setback? I don’t see it. I see Obama still spending money hog wild on his green energy nonsense.
Gosh. I’m sure glad those recipients of US taxpayer money laid off the people in the States, rather than sacrifice any jobs in Finland!
where do you think those tax dollars went.. yep. much of the stimulus went overseas anyway.
Of course, Obama doesn’t care, because it helps him getting backing and money for his re-election.
Of course, unemployed workers have much more time on their hands to be campaign volunteers, don’tcha know? The Obama campaign should just be overflowing this year!
