Apparently, liberals want us all to be as miserable as they are
(Washington Post) The happier you are, the better, right? Not necessarily. Studies show that there is a darker side to feeling good and that the pursuit of happiness can sometimes make you . . . well, less happy. Too much cheerfulness can make you gullible, selfish, less successful — and that’s only the tip of the iceberg.
Happiness does have benefits (beyond feeling good, of course). It can protect us from stroke and from the common cold, makes us more resistant to pain and even prolongs our lives. Yet, June Gruber, a professor of psychology at Yale University who has studied happiness, warns that it’s important to experience positive moods in moderation.
So, start being more a sad sack, like liberals!
She compares happiness to food: Although necessary and beneficial, too much food can cause problems; likewise, happiness can lead to bad outcomes. “Research indicates that very high levels of positive feelings predict risk-taking behaviors, excess alcohol and drug consumption, binge eating, and may lead us to neglect threats,†she says.
No need to come up with a drug for that, just become a liberal!
Included in the studies was one involving a group of American college freshmen who in 1976 claimed to be very cheerful. Surveyed again when they were in their late 30s, they earned, on average, almost $3,500 a year less than their slightly less cheerful peers. Why? Diener suggests that people who don’t experience much sadness or anxiety are rarely dissatisfied with their jobs and therefore feel less pressure to get more education or change careers.
So…..they’re happy with their jobs, despite making less money? I’m failing to see the problem. And there are people who are miserable in their jobs, but make more money? Wait, isn’t making money bad in Liberal World?
Anyhow, what kinds of miserable people study “happiness”?
So, its bad to feel good but good to feel bad but not knowing its bad and that’s good. But, isn’t good, bad? And what about the good part of being bad? And, what of the bad part of not enough good?

I used to have a pastor that said “happiness depends on happenings; joy comes from the Lord.”
Even if you strip away the religious overtones, there is some truth to that statement.
Often our “happiness” depends on what is going on around us rather than a deep seated joy of who we are an what we have accomplished. Too often “happiness” gets people on a roller coaster of always looking for a way to be “happy” rather than being “joyful” independent of events.

Even while seriously ill and in indescribably physical pain, my heart is happy. Why? Because I have a loving husband, adorable funny kids, cute pets, and some of the most wonderful friends in the world, and those things came my way because God is good and merciful, and He has created a whole world of beauty and love for people to enjoy if they open their eyes and their hearts to it.
Leftists are filled with hatred and envy, two things which destroy the soul, and you cannot be happy when your soul is filled with darkness and you proclaim things which are evil as good.

After a bad boyfriend breakup, my Dad in a rare show of emotion asked me why I was moving away to Florida, saying that you cannot escape being unhappy, and advised me to find contentment- and soon happiness would follow. My God was he right.
Liberals could not find contentment, even if it was right in front of them. Liberals can’t take a joke, can’t help but find the worst in a situation, and cannot lighten up ev-ah. It’s no wonder they find positive thought a danger, and value money and higher salaries over cheerfulness!

Thank you for sharing Zilla. Your explanation shows the true reason behind all of it. Many liberals do not truly know GOD, thus they can never be happy. Sure, they may go to church. Sure, they may even listen now and then to the fiery preacher. Heck, they may not even be listening when he talks of blaming the jews and white man for all of your racial ills. But, do they truly know GOD and his message of love, peace, contentment, and loving one another?
