GOP Kills International Climate Funding For Second Year

This leaves the crazy Warmists at Joe Romm’s Soros funded Climate Progress apoplectic, calling the GOP “shortsighted”

The most anti-environmental House of Representatives in history is at it again.

The environment could care less weather (sic) it is hotcoldwetdry. Like it’s been for 4.5 billion years. I talked to Mr. and Mrs. Environment yesterday, and they said Warmists should give it up, and focus on real environmental issues. Oh, and stop using fossil fueled conveyance if they hate the oil created by nature so much.

Yesterday, the House Foreign Affairs Appropriations Subcommittee passed the 2013 foreign operations budget, which for a second year in a row cut entire programs crucial for helping developing countries address climate change impacts and advance on a low-emission economic trajectory.

The conservative belief that cutting international climate investments will solve national budget and debt problems simply makes the problem more expensive for us down the road. These cuts are bad for our national security, risk our international credibility, and endanger our planet and future generations.

Well, liberals are welcome to hold a bake sale or sell lemonade to provide the funds….oops, I forget that liberals in government have done all they could to stop those types of fundraisers around the country. Anyhow, CCCP, er, CP, highlights just what the foreign operations budget does, which brings a smile to my face this morning

  • The World Bank multilateral Climate Investment Funds that the George W. Bush administration established — consisting of the Strategic Climate Fund, the Clean Technology Fund, and the Forest Investment Program — are completely absent. That’s bad financial investment policy. The Clean Technology Fund, which helps to scale up clean energy technology in large-emitting developing countries, leverages around $8 in co-financing from multilateral development banks, governments, and the private sector for every $1 invested. (good. Let the private sector do it if they want. Politicians  use the money to typically pick loser companies that donated to their election chest)
  • USAID’s operating expenses are cut 5 percent below FY 2012 enacted levels. (good)
  • The Global Environment Facility, the main funder of international global warming projects, was cut to $64.7 million. In 2012 President Obama requested $143.7 million for the fund. (perhaps Obama should try to get the Democrat controlled Senate to pass a budget with the requested funds. And perhaps the GEF should spend the money on real environmental issues)

And here’s the best one

Funding for the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change — a body of scientists that studies the risk of human-induced climate change — is eliminated.

A body of bureaucrats that provide fake studies while recommending countries tax the bejesus out of their citizens and put the money in the hands of the UN IPCC, because they are totally trust-worthy.
