In fact, budgets are so unpopular that not one Democrat cast any vote in favor of a budget
(Washington Times) President Obama’s budget suffered a second embarrassing defeat Wednesday, when senators voted 99-0 to reject it.
Coupled with the House’s rejection in March, 414-0, that means Mr. Obama’s budget has failed to win a single vote in support this year.
Republicans forced the vote by offering the president’s plan on the Senate floor.
All sorts of ObamaZombies have tried to position this as some sort of GOP gimmick, forcing the Senate Dems to actually *GASP* vote on budgets. The Mahablog, The Politico, and many others highlight this vote as being a gimmick, as not being fair. It’s not like voting is what Congress is supposed to do. Along with actually passing a budget, which is kinda required by law.
Anyhow, Powerline points out
Four different Republican budgets were taken up by the Senate. The House budget (commonly referred to as the Ryan budget) was voted down 41-58. The vote on Pat Toomey’s budget was 42-47; the vote on Rand Paul’s budget was 16-83; and the vote on Mike Lee’s budget was 17-82. The common denominator was that no Democrat had the courage to vote for any of them.
John Hinderaker also provides this handy dandy quote from Jeff Session
Today, before the whole nation, the majority party running the Senate effectively declared that as long as they’re in charge this country will not have a budget.
Their message is simple: Send Washington more money. Don’t ask us what we’ll do with it. They’re determined to avoid public accountability as our nation spends its way to financial disaster.
If there is no budget, then why do The People have to send them tax money? There is no accountability, we have no idea what they will do with our money. But, if you fail to send tax money to them, you’ll be in legal trouble. If they shirk their legal duties, well, they surely won’t hold themselves responsible.
