Half Of Americans Can’t Name A Renewable Energy

And not too hot with fossil fuels

(Energy Live News) Could you name a renewable energy source? It sounds like the easiest pub quiz question – but according to new research, more than half of Americans can’t even manage to name one.

On top of that, a third of Americans couldn’t say what a fossil fuel is, according to the new infographic from Washington DC-based advisors Cassidy & Associates.

Heh! (Sorry, can’t use the emoticons while writing with Droid). This is apparently from a study released mid October (press release with all sorts of links here), but, it’s amusing (via Tom Nelson)

What about Hot Pockets? Wait, those aren’t ‘renewable’, they’re ‘microwavable’. That’s different. Hmm… I’ll get back to you.

I can’t name one because according to the laws of physics, none exists.

“Renewable energy” is just a marketing scam and not a true reflection of science.

Solar is renewable. Once you grab the electrons and send them down the wires, use them to power your iPod, it gets sent back to the sun after bouncing off the Moon. Tells you how much power we leave behind by how bright the moon shines.

Water is renewable. After taking it from the ground, pumping it, processing and cleaning it, I can urinate it out all sterile and ready to be used again.

Wind is renewable based on how many beans I eat.

Oil is renewable since we pump it out of the ground, burn it, and then it rains back in to the ground.

Corn is renewable because it takes all the other renewables and processes them to make more corn.

ok.,.. sorry, but WTH!??! Sorry, don’t believe this. Ok, wait. I get it. 1/3 of people in America couldn’t understand the questions in English thus responded with a shrug. That explains it.

And these are the people who are voting for Obama. They can’t name their representatives, they don’t know what Benghazi is, never heard of Fast and Furious, and don’t really know one single thing about global warming except that it’s “real”. Great to find out they wouldn’t even know how to stop it if they tried.

  5. Gumball_Brains says:

Guess what Trish…. that’s science now.

We are at the point where people are complaining about testing kids to see what and how much they know. People complain when their kid does not get the same grade as the smart hard-working kids. Therefore, there should be no testing or grades.

Or, if there must be testing, dumb down those tests for certain ethnic groups. Teachers not doing their jobs? Don’t fire them, just relocate them.

People vote now based on feelings and soundbites heard from hugely biased news networks. And many, many just do not care.

My neighbor emailed me this today:

My friend Lucy says that this election will tell us whether or not the responsible have finally been outnumbered. I think she’s right.

Sadly, this is probably accurate. Where do we go from here if Mitt loses?

technological globe the whole thing is available on web?

  24. Today, I went to the beach with my kids. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She placed the shell to her
ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear.
She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is completely off topic but I had to tell
