Der Spiegel is breaking the silence about the reality of global warming. Perhaps they are confused about warming considering that 4 of the last 5 winters have been very harsh. The Global Warming Policy Foundation provides a translation
Flowers are blooming earlier, sea level is rising – no doubt the climate is changing. The last year, as reported by NASA, was the ninth warmest since measurements began 132 years ago. The past decade was the warmest in this period.
But it has become common knowledge for some time that the climate has recently developed differently than predicted. The warming has stalled for 15 years; the upward trend in the average global temperature has not continued since 1998 (sic). “The standstill has led to the suggestion that global warming has stopped,†NASA admit.
The British Met Office has recently forecast that the warming standstill could continue until the end of 2017 – despite the rapid increase in greenhouse gas emissions. Then global warming would have stalled for 20 years. How many years – goes a now common question – has the temperature standstill to last until climate scientists start to reconsider their forecasts of future warming?
Scientists previously thought 14 years without further warming could be brought into line with their forecasts – but not “15 years or more,†as NASA scientists stated four years ago in the journal “Bulletin of the American Meteorological Societyâ€. In an email to colleagues a renowned scientist wrote on 7 May 2009, at a time when the warming standstill had already lasted for eleven years: “the ‘no upward trend’ has to continue for a total of 15 years before we get worried.â€
Now, 15 years without warming has happened. The warming standstill of the global surface temperature shows that the uncertainties of climate predictions are surprisingly large. The interested public anxiously awaits whether the IPCC’s new Assessment Report, which is due in September, will address the warming pause – the discussions are ongoing in Australia’s Hobart. The researchers are discussing several cogent reasons that might have slowed the upward trend of temperatures.
The climate astrologers are desperately searching for a reason behind the standstill, things like the ocean magically absorbing the missing heat, a dry stratosphere, exhaust gases in Asia, and cold water flood in the Pacific, anything to find a way to continue blaming Mankind’s output of CO2, instead of actually investigating the reality, namely that the primary driver of climate is the Sun, along with other natural forces. Though Warmists do, humorously, attempt now and then to say that natural processes are causing the standstill which masks the anthropogenic causes. The thought that the warming since the Little Ice Age could be mostly or solely natural never crosses their minds.
Of course, since Warmists call it “climate change” they are set up to blame this standstill on Mankind, just like they blame snow and cold on greenhouse gases.
Researchers can easily see taht since 1970 the overall TREND has been to hotter temps. Along the way there have been plateaus, there will be downturns, but the trend will continue upwards. Bummer Teach but no new Ice Age.
Bunch of idiots, they are….
Here’s the way it works:
-1)For whatever reason, global temperatures rise.
-2)Ocean surface temperature rises.
-3)As ocean temperature rises, more water vapor is created globally.
-4)Water vapor rises, blocks a bit more of the sunlight that is warming the ocean surface.
-5)Less solar energy on the ocean surface means surface temperature drops.
-6)Less water vapor is created, ocean surface starts to re-warm.
-7) Goto -1).
This is the method the earth has regulated it’s temperature for millenia. Whatever it is that may cause an increase in temperature(variations in earths orbit, sun spots, volanic activity, huge forest fires, evil corporations, pooping cows, whatever), the oceans – covering 80% of the surface – react and reduce solar radiation, the only sourse of heat that really matters. Earth self-regulates it temperature… always has.
It’s cyclic(slow in human terms) and has been going on since the dawn of time.
We can start to worry when the water in the oceans starts to dissappear – not into ice caps – but truly vanishes, as water molecules, one by one, escape earths gravity. (An inevitable eventuality)
That’s probably a few thousand million years in the future.
Don’t lose any sleep over it.
Um, Bob, I suspect that the shifting of the earth’s tectonic plates and the oceans’ fluctuating currents have a lot to do with it, too. But hey, that’s just a suspicion, and I could be wrong.
Guys, don’t forget the sea dragons have now returned to sleep. So no more of their fiery outgassings. That will help cool the oceans. (missing heat, huh? huh? huh?)
seriously,…
Wait, a few weeks ago they said it was THE warmest in that period. Go figure.
OH, I see what they did there. Sneaky. So, a world recovering from an ice age wouldn’t be expected to warm up?
And who would that be at NASA? I think it’s time to start demanding names on articles. How can you have a science article and not have proper citations? THink that would fly in the real science journals?
oh… nevermind.
Huh???
What? Never seen the under-sea fire dragons? Seriously? They are the reason for those heat pockets that scientists theorize exist where their models didn’t predict. And, when the dragons return to their caves and go to sleep, that’s the reason why the ocean content heat disappears when the models predicted it to be there.
It’s a consensus so everyone knows it.
