The Neverending Campaign goes on the road, once again showing a POTUS who is bereft of leadership
(CBS NY) President Barack Obama left for the Middle East on Tuesday evening. He’s on a mission to charm the Israelis into making peace concessions and to find some way to peacefully stop Iran from building a bomb.
What he wants is Israel to give up land they won in wars, most launched against Israel by Arab nations. As for Iran, nothing has stopped them so far.
The president’s move came in a four-minute statement — with Persian subtitles — that attempted to go around President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and reach the Iranian people directly.
It’s the same strategy he wants to employ in Israel, an attempt to circumvent Netanyahu with a campaign-like speech to the Israeli people.
“This trip is a charm offensive to make Israelis like him,†said Jerusalem Post political correspondent Gil Hoffman.
Hoffman said Obama thinks he can win a Middle East peace settlement if Israelis pressure Netanyahu.
Obama confuses “people liking him” with leadership. He’s, for good or bad, the President of the USA, not a movie start, and as such this diminishes the office of the POTUS, consequently reducing the standing of the US. But that is immaterial to Obama, who prefers adulation over all else.
And, if Obama wants Israelis to like him, perhaps his administration shouldn’t erase parts of the nation from the map
The map of the Middle East displayed in an Obama administration video released days before President Barack Obama’s visit to Israel shows the Jewish state dispossessed of substantial parts of its current territory, including its capital.
The map of Israel, displayed repeatedly during the video, shows the Golan Heights, Jerusalem, northern Israel, and areas surrounding what is currently the West Bank as non-Israeli territory. The Golan Heights is shown as part of Syria; Jerusalem is shown as part of the West Bank; and northern Israel is shown as part of Lebanon.
Obama’s schedule simply shows him in “Jerusalem”, with not national name attacked, unlike with “Tel Aviv, Israel”. Remember, the Obama admin. has long been unwilling to name Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, and has even called it “Al Quds”, the Palestinian name many times.
BTW, many Palestinians do not want him around, either, starting riots (surprise!) and burning pictures of Obama.

So did Bush unfortunately.
I love how the Palestinians are griping about 3G cell coverage. Meanwhile their kids are blowing themselves up, people are still living in huts, and their sewage lagoons are their bathing pools. Unless you are talking about their leadership of course.
But, that’s what you get with governments who control their people.
