This will hopefully be my last post on President 44K metric tons carbon footprint (OK, I added 3k, but, does anyone think his CFP hasn’t gone up over the years? And 44 is perfect) Obama’s hotcoldwetdry speech. At least for today. But, here’s a little snippet (via Ace and Erika Johnson)
(HuffPost) President Barack Obama will ask the State Department not to approve the construction of the controversial Keystone XL pipeline unless it can first determine that it will not lead to a net increase in greenhouse gas emissions, a senior administration official told The Huffington Post. …
The new Obama policy somewhat splits the difference — not killing the project outright, but ensuring that it meets a basic environmental standard. …
“As the executive order on Keystone contemplates, the environmental impacts will be important criteria used in the determination of whether the Keystone pipeline application will ultimately be approved at the completion of the State Department decision process,†said the senior administration official. “In today’s speech, the president will make clear that the State Department should approve the pipeline only if it will not lead to a net increase in overall greenhouse gas emissions.â€
Keystone XL has passed so many environmental standards inquiries, but, here’s how Ace puts it
Rather than announcing this decision himself, he pawns it off to a third party who can take the heat while he once again pretends to have nothing to do with his own government.
Cowardly, as usual.
His barking moonbat base (which fails to admonish Obama for taking a huge motorcade to Georgetown U, which is less than 4 miles from the White House) will be satisfied, because they know that Keystone will be locked up in red tape and studies for at least the rest of Obama’s term. Low info voters won’t really know that this means “f*ck you and your need for inexpensive, reliable energy”.
Coming next: Chinese / Canadian energy partnership summit.
Look for the China / Canada energy partnership summit next.
It might be interesting to see what the Canadians have to say tomorrow regarding Obama’s pronouncement. Because they darned sure won’t wait 3 or more years.
well they could build a pipeline west to the Pacific EXCEPT the Province of British Columbia already said NO to that. The pipeline will allow Alberta to be able to ship its “diluted bitumin” to a deep water port. If it does not have that option it will have to continue to sell what it produces at a discount rate to midwest refiners. Teach why would you want us to have to pay higher prices ?
Can someone tell me what john is talking about and how he thinks we will pay less for fuel. Lets look at what this nut president has done to us. His economic measures have made the dollar next to useless and inflation a certain byproduct in the next few months (that is why they are easing on stimulus). Then he greatly increased the cost of medical care for both the government and the individual. Also, what you don’t know is that while preventative care is free, it is also mandatory. That means that if you have extra We are in deep do do.
Beats me, David. John seems to think that Canada would build a pipeline to their west coast and then ship the oil to the US on a tanker, when they will simply sell it to China. He misses the whole damned point of the Keystone XL pipeline.
Not only that, but a few weeks ago, john was claiming the Canadians had to sell oil to the US because they had no deep water ports.
Now magically they do.
Funny how reality invades john’s world under the bridge.
