Say, how’d all these believers in Hotcoldwetdry travel to Washington?
(Climate Progress) Tuesday marked the first time that individuals impacted by climate change had a chance to come before Congress and tell their stories, according to Rep. Henry Waxman (D-CA), who helped co-founded the Safe Climate Caucus. Six people with personal stories and one scientist spoke as part of Waxman’s 28-member group, formed this year to raise awareness about climate change and push back on Republican opposition to new environmental rules. “We’re getting all the wrong weather at the wrong time,†Russell said. “July was the coldest ever in Iowa and now September is the hottest. We had the worst snowstorm in two years in May and now we’re back in drought. The joke in Iowa is what month will show up in October?â€
Um, OK. Greenhouse gases that “trap” heat made it cold and snowy? Probably because someone took a fossil fueled trip.
Hugh Fitzsimmons, a bison rancher and beekeeper from Texas spoke about the double impact of man-made climate change, resulting in drought, and the man-made water crisis caused by water used for hydraulic fracturing around his home near the Rio Grande. The devastating drought and heat of the summer of 2011 caused Fitzsimmons’s bison to give birth to only seven babies, rather than the usual 70 or more.
“Denial is not just a river in Egypt,†said Fitzsimmons. “In Texas oil and gas are exempt from water regulations and nobody will listen to you when you try to tell them what’s happening. It’s like the poet Gary Snyder said — nature bats last.â€
Did Fitzsimmons ride a bicycle or walk to Washington? It looks more like he’s not a very good farmer, unable to plan and execute when weather happens, and, like any good Liberal, blames Mankind (mostly Other People) for his faults.
He must be a new bison-farmer. There have been many many many many times in the past where Oklahoma cattle ranchers had to kill off their cattle before they died of heat or dehydration. Wheat farmers had to cut their wheat fields early because of drought or potential floods. Or had to wait on their cutting because of flooding. This all occurred before 1997. It will occur again.
Hey doofus… please tell me why you think September should not be hot? We here in OK are now getting back to somewhat normal temps here in September. Yet, the temps are still way below normal. How can I be below normal while I’m at a lower latitude than Iowa? hmmmmm We’ve only had a couple of days where we’ve been at 100 degrees. Normally, we have a month at 100 and several weeks over 110.
So, when you complain about snow… SHUT THE HELL UP!!!!!!!!!!
Heck here in mid North Carolina we just broke two low temperature records. One was for 35F on September 15. it is 9F below the record! The trees are already turning color in the Raleigh-Durham area too.
I am hoping and praying the USA gets plastered with cold and snow for the next two winters before the next big climate conference. (Some major rolling blackouts because of the shut down of coal plants would be a help too.)
I rather have Mother Nature give the USA a swift kick in the bootie now then the slow economic starvation and major riots followed by the herding of what is left of us into Transit Villages that are the ultimate plans of the elite.
I’d rather take the hell unleashed by mother nature instead of the living hell unleashed by our Socialist overlords.
I have a feeling though Gail, that there might be some kick-back should they attempt to round up the good ol’ southern families.
We at least can still plant gardens. In many locales gardens are illegal. But then, we don’t really own our homes or properties do we.
