What happens when all these supposedly “green” companies that received taxpayer “loans” from Obama’s Stimulus collapse?
(Fox News) A Colorado-based solar company that got hundreds of millions of dollars in federal loan guarantees before going belly-up didn’t just empty taxpayers’ wallets – it left behind a toxic mess of carcinogens, broken glass and contaminated water, according to a new report.
The Abound Solar plant, which got $400 million in federal loan guarantees in 2010, when the Obama administration sought to use stimulus funds to promote green energy, filed for bankruptcy two years later. Now its Longmont, Colo., facility sits unoccupied, its 37,000 square feet littered with hazardous waste, broken glass and contaminated water. The Northern Colorado Business Report estimates it will cost up to $3.7 million to clean and repair the building so it can again be leased.
In fact, the site is so contaminated that the owner tried to get the bankruptcy trustee to clean the site, but it would “place humans at imminent and significant health risk”, according to the report, particularly from the cancer causing element cadmium, used in solar panels.
When Solyndra went bust, they also left a huge toxic mess. Because creating solar panels can leave serious amounts of toxic sludge and other environmental un-friendly messes. My definition of “green” seems vastly different from Obama and all the Warmists who push these projects.
I think they were guaranteed $400 million but only got about $70 million. From the feds. They also got free money from the state and local gov’ts too.
Yeah, when I think of “green” and “renewable” I don’t think of Solar Panels. You can’t cheaply or easily recycle them, nor do they biodegrade. They are also not earth-friendly when it comes to how they are produced. It takes massive amounts of labor, fossil fuels, ore, water, and land resources to create and use them.
Greenies are shallow-minded and short-sighted when it comes to their pets of solar and wind energy production.
Where’s Jeffrey to tell us that this is the Wave Of The Future, and you can’t make an omelet without breaking a few eggs?
Yes, ironic in that Jeffery praised Krugman’s analysis of the supposed economic disasters caused by “climate change” -wait, er… “severe weather events”, he curiously said nothing about the even greater economic disasters caused by the climate astrologers trying to stop something that’s not man’s fault in the first place.
