In the context of explaining just why O-care is in much worse trouble than thought, and the Mary Landrieu “keep your plan” legislation, he writes
4. The bill Landrieu is offering could really harm the law. It would mean millions of people who would’ve left the individual insurance market and gone to the exchanges will stay right where they are. Assuming those people skew younger, healthier, and richer — and they do — Obamacare’s premiums will rise. Meanwhile, many people who could’ve gotten better insurance on the exchanges will stay in bad plans that will leave them bankrupt when they get sick.
Essentially, what he’s telling us is that it was always necessary to the “Affordable” Care Act for people, especially young healthies, to lose their health plans and be forced into the Exchange. Otherwise, a huge chunk of this boondoggle, if not the whole thing, collapses.
BTW, House and Senate Dems plan on introducing an “historic” pro-abortion bill which would stop States from passing restrictions.on abortion. Besides the fact that it violates that pesky 10th Amendment, this is Distraction Legislation, an attempt to change the subject from the disaster of O-care.
I had my insurance canceled, here in Louisiana where old Mary sometimes lives. The agent said the whole program was shut down, and it was good insurance. So, there is nothing for me to get back and I had to purchase a lesser policy. This bill would do nothing. What people don’t understand is that this was a total take over of the whole health care industry. Just like the South Americans take over oil, etc. Everything is changing and the whole purpose is for everyone to lose there policy and have to find one via the Feds. The next shoe to drop and I have heard references to it, is that it is unfair that there are several categories of policies based on your ability to pay. That means they want everyone with the exact same insurance. You will not be able to obtain policies except through the Fed.
ummm… what?
Well, normal people understand that. Normal people voted against it. Normal people know that anything the gov’t does is a travesty of justice these days.
Millennials may not understand only because they did not care to learn. That is their nature. Refusal to learn, to find out, to discover. (yes, that is a generality). But hey, at least they’ll have like totally free contraception.
That’s a good point, David. Here’s the thing, when this law was first rolled out, even before passage, and right after passage, many who were seeing what it did were saying that you would only be able to get insurance through the Exchanges, at least when discussing individuals and small businesses. Can one actually get an insurance policy from a company not offering plans through the Exchange?
Take California: Blue Cross, Aetna, Humana, and United Healthcare are not participating in Covered Ca. Could an individual purchase a plan through them now? Sure, they would not be eligible for a subsidy, but might they get better rates? Can they even get a plan?
teach,
The news and the great one are only concentrating on the broken web site. They are not focusing on the fact that in the coming years, everyone will lose their policy and have to seek one from the government. The current loss of plans by individuals is just the tip of the iceberg. That is likely why the employer mandate was postponed.
and gumball,
I meant South American dictators. Also, I see a large spectrum of the various economic groups in our country on a daily basis. I can assure you that is the exceptional individual that knows what is happening.
David, true enough about most news sites. Especially the ones loyal to O and the Socialist dream. Which is ironic since the first things true Socialist seize and restrict is the press and their freedoms. Funny that.
Ah, true that. It is sad what is happening in places like Venezuela. And yet companies still deign to do business there despite knowing that their products, profits, and even their people have, can, and will be seized and arrested.
