When it comes to saying something bat-guano insane, in particular pulling out the Race Card, there’s a whole range of nut-balls at MSNBC to choose from. Pretty much the entire liberal staff. In this case, it’s Melissa Harris-Perry on her Sunday show, who decided To Be Brave and say the word
(Daily Caller) “I want to talk today about a controversial word. It’s a word that has been with us for years. And like it or not, it’s indelibly printed in the pages of American history. A word that was originally intended as a derogatory term, meant to shame and divide and demean. The word was conceived of by a group of wealthy white men who needed a way to put themselves above and apart from a black man, to render him inferior and unequal and diminish his accomplishments.
“President Obama has been labelled with this word by his opponents, and at first he rose above it, hoping that if he could just make a cause for what he’d achieved, his opponents would fail in making their label stick. But no matter how many successes that he had as president, he realized there were still many people for whom he’d never be anything more than that one disparaging word — a belief he knew was held not just by his political opponents, but also by a significant portion of the American electorate.
“And so he decided if you can’t beat them, you’ve got to join them. So he embraced the word and made it his own, sending his opposition a message they weren’t expecting: ‘If that’s what you want me to be, I’ll be that.’
“Y’all know the word that I’m talking about. Obamacare! That’s right! I said it and I’m not ashamed, and neither is President Obama!â€
So, it’s raaaaacist to call it Obamacare. Even though Obama himself, along with many Dems Of Color, do the same. And media outlets. And that it seems that Jeanne Schulte Scott, a woman, apparently coined the term.
And it’s certainly not fair to Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, two very rich white Democrats, and the numerous other Democrats who actually did the work to make this charnel house of a bill pass while Obama just gave speeches, that it’s referred to as Obamacare. But, hey, saying that word is raaaaacist. Unless you’re Melissa H-P, who isn’t ashamed to say it! Because she’s Very Brave or something.
Pirate,
Them Negroes bein’ uppity, ain’t they?
Don’t you think a Black person is in a better position to judge racism than a middle-aged white woman? (I happen to disagree with Professor Harris-Perry. The rabid right is racist – not all conservatives are racists, but all racists are conservatives – but the RWNJs dogged the white Clinton just as much as they have Obama. But you embarrass yourself if you claim there is no racial component to the far right’s foaming mouth hatred of Obama.)
Her bigger point – you were blinded to it by her mention of race – is that Republicans (the white, Christian party) used the phrase Obamacare to diminish the ACA, and Obama by extension.
Do you think it’s a coincidence that far-right policy proposals always – always – harm Blacks?
Read the comments section over at the Gateway Pudenda anytime the odious jimhoft posts on how evil Negroes are – you’ll see how the far right views Blacks when they think no one is looking.
[…] is President Obama!†(Read More)Is it racist for me to say Melissa Harris-Perry is an idiot? As William Teach pointed out, Democrats including President Obama embraced the term “Obamacare” until the law was […]
So Jay Carney was trying to diminish the ACA?
Rangel et al were trying to diminish the ACA?
Obama himself was trying to diminish the ACA?
They ALL referred to the ACA as “ObamaCare,” so following your logic, were they trying to “diminsh the ACA?”
As for the charge of racism on blogs, may I suggest that you go on over to the DailyKos (for example) and look at the hatred based on race toward someone like Michelle Malkin. Want to see hatred based on gender? Mention Ann Coulter or Sarah Palin.
How many blacks has the left called “Uncle Tom” simply for disagreeing with those on the left. I would hope you would agree that the term “Uncle Tom” is racist as well, right?
There is racism, sexism, and whatever “ism” you want to say on both sides of the political aisle. The difference is that for the most part, Conservatives don’t like such divisions.
Liberals like you, on the other hand, need to call others “racists” because you cannot and do not debate facts. You have to throw out an unsubstantiated charge against everyone who disagrees with you.
That way you are shutting down the debate, rather than dealing with the issues.

Jeffrey, you DO realize that Obama himself said, “I’m kinda fond of the term, ‘Obamacare'”?
Is Obama a racist?
This a HUGE non-issue generated by a bunch of BLACK racists flailing around and trying to blame anyone/anything for the cold-water splash on their Obama cult of personality.
The failure of the Obama agenda/Liberalism/Socialism is now seen by anyone willing to open their eyes. The Left MUST generate a non-troversy to keep people from realizing what’s going on.
Reality: Obamacare is a disaster. Obama’s poll numbers are plummeting as people wake up. The economy is in shambles. Our allies see us as weak. The country is divided. Obama is illegally changing laws by announcing changes at press conferences. The Obama administration is terribly corrupt. Spending is out of control. The country as a whole is doing terrible. NOTHING Obama has done has made the country any better.
Jeff,
I am an avowed racist and really don’t care. I do think that you are bigoted and prejudiced by pointing this out. So which of us is worse. In fact, the discussion has passed you by, WE DON’T CARE and longer. We simply want the civil war to start so we can get back to business.
david,
You are a special case – an honest conservative. I respect that.
You and yours will lose the next civil war you hope to foment, just as your forebears lost the previous one.
For the others here: You missed the point of what Professor Harris-Perry said. She recognized that President Obama accepted, even embraced, the phrase Obamacare, thus taking its power away from the Repubs. The Pirate didn’t even understand the point he was trying to make.
I exactly understand MHPs point, she’s a typical unhinged liberal race baited/hustler who pulls this crap all the time, because crying racism is a measure to shut down debate.
You have to give Jiffy credit, he is consistent. On AGW, no facts, science or substance can sway his opinion. The fact that the term “ObamaCare” was not demeaning anymore than the terma “HillaryCare” or “RomneyCare” were not considered demeaning will not dissuade him.
Also the hypocritical victim, never the leader.
OK, Jeffrey. Let’s play your game.
We’re all racists and everyone is against the black man.
Now, explain how THE AFFORDABLE CARE ACT is affordable, has anything do do with care, or is anything like we were told it was going to be.
Obama is racist!!! Obama is racist against Obama!!! End Racism. End racism – elect a conservative.
Jeff,
I said I was a racist, now, what is my skin color?
