Are other Republicans paying attention, particularly elected ones?
(Politico) The Koch brothers are firing back at Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid for his broadside on their political activities, with a spokesman calling Reid’s comments “beneath the office he holds.â€
After Reid on Thursday accused the billionaires Charles and David Koch of trying to “buy the country,†a top aide for the brothers said Reid’s remarks were simply the latest efforts by Democrats “to try to intimidate and silence their political opponents.â€
“Senator Reid falsely accused the Kochs of trying to ‘buy the country’ because they have exercised their First Amendment rights of free speech and free association,†said Koch Companies Public Sector President Philip Ellender. “Sen. Reid’s divisive remarks were not only disrespectful and beneath the office he holds, they were indicative of what lengths he and his Democratic allies will go to eliminate and silence their political opposition.â€
I’ve been saying and writing this about elected Democrats for a long time. Particularly Mr. Obama. It’s a shame that Congressional Republicans haven’t come out and said the same thing. Democrats are continuously attempting to shut down debate, and constantly demonizing and denigrating private citizens who hold a different political view. While this many not violate the text of the 1st Amendment (Congress shall pass no law…), it by golly violates the spirit.
Too often Democrats use loaded words and phrase, accusing opponents of sexism, racism, a “war on women”, Islamophobia, etc, to attempt to silence opponents. Reid has denigrated private citizens many times. He’s specifically targeted Rush Limbaugh on the Senate floor. Obama is always denigrating political opponents. This is all way below the the office they hold. Boehner, McConnell, Cruze, Paul, etc, should take to the House and Senate floors and take Democrats on over their blatant attacks on private citizens.
Nor will the Kock brothers be intimidated. The aid continued on to say that they will continue their exercise of their Free Speech rights to “advocate for their fundamental beliefs in individual liberty, limited government, and promotion of policies that help people improve their lives.”

“Too often Democrats use loaded words and phrase, accusing opponents of sexism, racism, a “war on womenâ€, Islamophobia, etc, to attempt to silence opponents”
And nearly all of the mainstream media assists Democrats; propagating their messages accusing opponents of these things.
It is that, more-so than the attempt by demorats to silence their opposition, that scares me the most. If we do not have a fair media who refuses to take sides, we have no reporting at all- only propaganda.
Anyone who tries to get a different message across, one that is inclusive of more than half of this nation’s population is in fact a breath of fresh air.
So thank you Koch Brothers.
Conservatives are very thin-skinned when it comes to criticism. And they are entitled to defend themselves against attacks. So what’s the issue? Sounds like you want to shut off the rough and tumble of politics.
Says the guy who is defending the lies of Harry Reid.
It is not Conservatives that put forth speech codes outlaw criticism, it is liberals. It is not Conservatives who cannot address ideas without cries of “racism!”
I suspect that once again Jeffery reads an article and projects his liberal inadequacy into it.
Guitar, it really does little good to say anything about this Jeffery guy. He is willfully ignorant and only wants to pick a fight. I suspect he is a child.
J- “Conservatives are very thin-skinned when it come to criticism.” As opposed to, say, Michael Mann of global astrology fame.
I hold no more hope in the Repubs. And even the new Tea Party members are beginning to fail me. How many tea party elected congress-crats stood up against ObamaCare and stood with Cruz and Paul? Few
How many voted for the latest budget bill and will vote to raise debt ceiling?
How many have come out against the GOP amnesty plan?
One of our “strong” Repub Congressmen voted for his latest budget and had other pro-gov’t votes. He now wants to take Sen COburn’s seat. NOPES. NOPE. NO.
I have no more faith in our GOP, let alone the supposed Conservative side. I will continue to vote to put conservatives in to office and kick out the failures… but I have no faith in our gov’t overall.
Wah! Wah! Harry Reid’s looking at us funny! Bunch of pussies.
When you lower yourself to that level of discourse, you’ve already lost Jeffery.
