This kinda stuff annoys me
(Times Picayune) Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal on Thursday (April 10) called on U.S. Rep. Vance McAllister, R-Swartz, to resign. The statement came only hours after the state GOP issued a similar request.
“Congressman McAllister’s behavior is an embarrassment and he should resign. He says he wants privacy to work on his issues with his family. The best way to get privacy and work on putting his family back together is to resign from Congress.”
Hours earlier, Louisiana Republican Party Chairman Roger Villere also suggested McAllister resign, calling his actions “extreme hypocrisy” that “has embarrassed our party, our state and the institution of Congress.” Louisiana’s newest congressman, McAllister was elected to represent the 5th District last November.
Why does this annoy me? I’m sure many Republicans and Conservatives, especially social conservatives, will disagree, but this is much ado about nothing. This was a personal failing, and embarrasses McAllister and the woman and their families. It only affects the GOP if they let it, and by calling for McAllister to resign they’ve joined into a personal issue, that, guess what, is not against the law. Just a bad personal decision.
Republicans are too quick on the draw to eat our own over small issues. Yes, we say we have better morals overall than Democrats, and we actually do. But, the flesh is weak, and people make mistakes. And, really, to expect most politicians to be super awesome moral people is to ignore the history of politics. Also, is it not Christian, and Conservative, to forgive? Especially since, in this case, this did not affect our own lives? What effect did the kiss have on the lives of most Republicans, including those in his district? Zip. Nada. Nill.
Do you see Democrats eating their own over tiny things? Heck, they almost never eat their own over big things. How many tax cheats work or worked for Obama? How many are in Congress? Dems vastly beat out Republicans on the tax cheat list. You have those taking bribes. How many in the Obama admin are lawless, including Obama? It’s no wonder 70% of felons register as Democrats.
This doesn’t even cover Democrat politicians denigrating, insulting, going after, etc, private citizens in a manner than may not violate the letter of all parts of the 1st Amendment, but certainly the spirit. And they love to violate many other Amendments, like the 2nd and the 4th.
People have personal failings. If something like this happens again, then McAllister should step aside. Or, the people of his District can vote him out. He broke no laws.
Teach you need a refresher course in civics as to what the 1st Amendment protects us from
The GOP stood up for sen duke Cunningham right up to his conviction let him keep his committee assignments just like they did to Delay please contrast that with the way Pelosi acted with Rep Jefferson
Wiki has a section on national politicians sent to jail since 2000 the GOP leads 11-4
And compare that with the way the Democrats protected and continue to protect Charles Rangel.
Once again, you are factually challenged.
I live in Louisiana and Jindal has an approval rate in the 30’s. He is the type of politician that will swing with the wind in order to get elected. Currently he wants to be President. The guy is a real jerk and even makes the corrupt liberal organizations look good. A good example, when Jindal first ran for office and lost, he was a supporter of abortion. Then the second time he thought that abortion was the worst thing ever, that got him elected and he has done little to support the anti-abortion people other than a meaningless legislation. Jindal is a RINO and don’t fall for him when he goes national.
As to McAllister, big deal. As long as he votes down Obama and group I will pay for his sexual needs.
Wasn’t it the GOP thatbnotnonly protected but reelected Sen Vitner LA he who got caught with prostitutes while wearing diapers ?? And you say the GOP estsbitsvown ?
Wasn’t it liberals and Democrats who thought that lying under oath is acceptable in a case that involved the textbook definition of “sexual harassment?”
Aren’t liberals attacking Ayaan Hirsi Ali because she dares to speak out for women?
John,
You do realize that it is against the law to text and drive, in most areas. Besides the law, it is fairly stupid, especially when driving a truck. But then from your statements and comments one would not expect anything different. I only hope you don’t harm someone.
