I’m not quite sure if I agree with Erik Erickson’s full assessment, but he makes a good case
For the longest time I have chosen to chalk our President’s stumbles, bumbles, and disasters up to incompetence. He is in over his head. He is inexperienced. He is out of his league. It is hard to accept otherwise.
But it is clearer and clearer that is not true. It is clear that President Obama’s disastrous policies are premised not in incompetence, but in maliciousness. Our President — and he is our President — is not a stumbler and a bumbler, but a Nero who when not persecuting Christians, plays golf while the world burns.
President Obama has surrounded himself with a group of people who comport to his own world view. That world view is very simple to explain: Barack Obama and his advisors belief that in order for the world to be safer, they must make the United States less safe. In order for the world to be stable, the United States must be less stable.
In short, Barack Obama blames America first.
Most of his article is premised on how Obama sees the world and America’s role, which is about tearing down the U.S. into “just another country” while fomenting issues around the world. The question is, is this maliciousness on the part of Obama, or is it on the part of the people he hired? Is he truly incompetent? With a smattering of indifference? Jeff G at protein wisdom digs deep into the archives, back to November 5, 2008
This “good man†was involved in ACORN blackmail schemes. With an attempt to fraudulently undermine the Second Amendment by gaming court rulings. He got rich off of schemes that led to the mortgage crisis — then stood by and let others fix it in order to keep his hands clean during the final stages of an election. He has thrown in with race hustlers,â€reformers†who believe that domestic terrorism was a valid form of expression, odious foreign potentates –
There is nothing at all noble about praising a man and a party who reviles you simply because in doing so you appear noble. Jews have tried that. And it’s often ended with skeletons and ash, or the twisted wreckage of a bus in Tel Aviv. (snip)
Sorry. But good men don’t lie, cheat, steal, and throw longtime supporters by the wayside just so they can rise to power — even if they’ve convinced themselves they’re doing so for some Greater Good.
Which is it, maliciousness or incompetence? I don’t believe it is that simple. It’s a confluence of both, with indifference. He’s certainly over his head in many areas. You also have to consider his narcissism, his holier than thou attitude, and his king complex. His laziness. We should probably be thankful that he doesn’t work very hard. Many times he just doesn’t seem to care, whether it be about working hard, doing the job, or what happens to Other People, including Americans. He is a petty man, and more than happy to retaliate and/or let his minions, including those in the media, retaliate.
What he has done is surround himself with malicious people who share his world-view, people who are pre-disposed to hardcore Progressive politics and to tearing down America. Jeff G hits closer to the mark that Obama is not a good man. He may not be evil, but his actions go well beyond those of typical politicians.

I agree.
