Obviously, there is zero link between the rise of ISIS and Islam. Because that would be silly
(Think Progress) Democratic presidential candidate Martin O’Malley linked climate change to the rise of ISIS earlier this week. Conservatives pounced. Score this round for O’Malley.
For three years now, leading security and climate experts — and Syrians themselves — have made the connection between climate change and the Syrian civil war. Indeed, when a major peer-reviewed study came out on in March making this very case, Retired Navy Rear Admiral David Titley said it identifies “a pretty convincing climate fingerprint†for the Syrian drought.
That last part should make John happy.
Anyhow, nowhere within the the long, boring, repetitive article do they even mention the word Islam, except as part of ISIS’s name.
Nor do they recommend that Warmists stop using so much fossil fuel and go carbon neutral.
The drought in Syrian is not a result of climate change and the civil war is not a result of the drought.
Other places that are currently having droughts are not at war, and Syria has had droughts before for thousands of years.
Climate change was not responsible for that. The drought will eventually end and hopefully so will the war.
Just more bad science where statistically insignificant correlations of measurements to models are exaggerated to grab headlines, politicians, and funding. Add a dose of abuse of the scientific method, fudging of models to match observations, and all you have is a useless mess with no valid finding of a measureable greenhouse gas signature among the noise of natural variability.
There are a number of articles on this. Here is one by IPCC contributor Patrick Michaels:
http://wattsupwiththat.com/2015/03/04/rebuking-the-claim-did-human-caused-climate-change-lead-to-war-in-syria/
Patrick J. Michaels is the director of the Center for the Study of Science at the Cato Institute. Michaels is a past president of the American Association of State Climatologists and was program chair for the Committee on Applied Climatology of the American Meteorological Society. He was a research professor of Environmental Sciences at University of Virginia for 30 years. Michaels was a contributing author and is a reviewer of the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, which was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007.
The Israelis eventually fled to Egpypt where they were enslaved because of a massive drought in the middle east….Now Im sure it was because they were burning too much electricity and their gas guzzling suvs were at fault.
The Mayans fled their massive city state because of massive long term dought…Im sure they secretly were cranking out secret co2 to destroy the planet.
Societies in Eurasia had to flee their areas and at least two tribes went extinct because of massive droughts long before co2 reached these epic proportions of today.
The list is endless. There will be a billion doughts long after man is dead and gone because we will have killed ourselves by creating a blight that will eat all our pot and barley….the loss of booze and pot will cause mankind to run freakin amuck and all those weapons will finally be put to good use…..as we plug each other over the last keg of bud and the last ounce of Tijuana Gold.
Bummer on top of bummer there, Teach when the US military falls into the camp of the warmist socialist hippy SJWs
And all of this happening during the “PAUSE”
Carbon neutral is a difficult goal for most, but as a nation we are doing a pretty good job of reducing our carbon footprint
And even your beloved Israel speaks out on climate change caused by AGW http://www.haaretz.com/news/israel/.premium-1.649344
Temps are described as soaring there Teach
Michaels receives his funding from the fossil fuel industry.
from wiki
Climate scientist Tom Wigley,[33] a lead author of parts of the report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, has stated that “Michaels’ statements on the subject of computer models are a catalog of misrepresentation and misinterpretation … Many of the supposedly factual statements made in Michaels’ testimony are either inaccurate or are seriously misleading.”[34]
again from the wiki article on Michaels2003 John Holdren[edit]
Office of Science and Technology Policy director, John Holdren,[28] told the U.S. Senate Republican Policy Committee in June 2003, “Michaels is another of the handful of U.S. climate-change contrarians … He has published little if anything of distinction in the professional literature, being noted rather for his shrill op-ed pieces and indiscriminate denunciations of virtually every finding of mainstream climate science.”[29] In 2009 Michaels responded in a Washington Examiner Op-Ed, saying that the IPCC had subverted the peer review process, and adding the IPCC had “left out plenty of peer-reviewed science that it found inconveniently disagreeable.”[30]
and Teach whenever you say anything like it will make John happy well of course I know that also means that it really makes your blood boil. I mean after all the support that the rabid right gave our military and now they turn and say they too believe in AGW !!! tough to take
And Israel too
and the Pope
WTF!!!
Carbon neutral is a difficult goal for most, but as a nation we are doing a pretty good job of reducing our carbon footprint
Then why all the belly aching about Global warming…..if we are solving the problem on our own despite the alarmisim on the left then why the incessant trolling of websites declaring we are all going to die?
snip.
On to the next John lunacy…….
I think the skeptics will use this paper to their own ends and it will set paleo back a number of years if it goes unchallenged. I will be emailing the journal to tell them I’m having nothing more to do with it until they rid themselves of this troublesome editor, a well-known skeptic in NZ. A CRU person is on the board but papers get dealt with by the editor assigned by Hans von Storch.
This was the danger of always criticising the skeptics for not publishing in the “peer-reviewed literatureâ€. Obviously, they found a solution to that — take over a journal! So what do we do about this? I think we have to stop considering “Climate Research†as a legitimate peer-reviewed journal. Perhaps we should encourage our colleagues in the climate research community to no longer submit to, or cite papers in, this journal. We would also need to consider what we tell or request of our more reasonable colleagues who currently sit on the editorial board…
The inevitable character assassination is right out of Saul Alinsky….destroy the reputation of those who disagree and threaten the journals who make a living publishing with threats forcing them to only publish papers that agree with the AGW crowd….its all right there…..
Assassinating ones character is exactly what the AGW crowd does…..you simply point out a very good example of why the average scientist who understands this stuff as well as the ones making money off of it are SILENT……..FEAR…..of retaliation and the destruction of their careers because the journals are now peer reviewed by AGW truthers.
Funny thing since the pope came out on global warming his popularity plummetted from the high 60’s to low 50’s and no doubt will continue its plunge as the pope uses Global warming to take the heat off his pervert priests……lolol
Israel….has always been a far left leaning country. The Jews in America always vote for the left…….and yet despite all that their staunchest allies are the right and conservatives….strange bedfellows.
and now the Navy……Of course they believe in global warming because of 2 very important reasons.
Fresh water is changing the thermoclines…the navy depends upon these for is sonar detection and its sonar avoidance. Money to continue studying and making accurate mapping of the oceans is necessary…..if the prevailing government said that the oceans are made of green jello the navy would agree so they can keep the funding rolling in.
Secondly the navy agrees with global warming because in fact the globe is warming…..They are not idiots……
Almost every one agrees the planet is warming…..the question has not be if but why…….that is where the disagreement always lies.
John you make it clear you do not want to have a legitimate conversation but that you pointed out that your main purpose here is to make Teach’s blood boil..
The very definition of a troll.
So, John, is this the first time Syria has had a drought? Obviously not, so more desperation from the climate clowns. “Michaels receives his funding from the fossil fuel industry….is another of the U.S climate change contrarians”, says John Holdren, Office of Science and Technoligy Policy Director. John, you really are embarrassing. Where do you think John Holdren receives his funding from? That would be from the anti-fossil fuel industry, the government. Whose funding dwarfs the fossil fuel industry by many times over.
And to think that up until 50 years ago Syria had a tropical rain forest.
Those evil meany oil companies are so responsible, right johnny?
