The latest undercover video regarding Planned Parenthood is even more shocking
(Life News) After two shocking videos caught Planned Parenthood doctors discussing and arranging the sale of body parts of aborted babies, a third video has been released today catching a Planned Parenthood vice president negotiating the sale of aborted babies and attempting to get as much money as possible from the deal.
Abortion supporters (how did it come to pass that a Party supports unfettered abortion, allowing no restrictions, even on late term and parental notification?) whine about the videos being “heavily edited”, even though the full videos for numbers 1 and 2 have been released. The news heavily edits all their videos. Maybe we should complain. Anyhow
(The Hill) Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) is fast-tracking a bill to cut off federal funding for Planned Parenthood, after senators huddled in his office Tuesday to work out the details of a bill.
Speaking on the Senate floor, the Republican leader started the process, known as Rule 14, which allows the bill to skip over being sent to a committee and go directly to the Senate floor for a vote.
“The horrendous videos of senior executives from Planned Parenthood discussing in callous tones and shocking detail their role in a national scandal requires a congressional response,” the Republican leader said in a statement.
“This legislation would ensure taxpayer dollars for women’s health are actually spent on women’s health — not a scandal-plagued political lobbying giant.â€McConnell is expected to finish the fast-track process Wednesday.
The bill itself would redirect federal funds to other women’s health organizations. The vote will take place by the end of next week. I would suspect that it would occur in a time that would allow the House to take it up. Obviously, if passed, Obama will veto it, showing just how extreme he is.
On one hand, it might be better to restrict Planned Parenthood to not using federal money for abortions. The organization does provide much, much more than just abortions, and certainly helps with actual health for low income women (or, does it?). On the other hand, there are 12 good reasons to defund PP. Here are a few
2. Planned Parenthood is an independently wealthy entity. According to its latest annual report, it has over one billion dollars in net assets.[ii] In 2014 alone, data shows that Planned Parenthood’s revenue has exceeded their expenses by over $90 million.[iii]
Looks like they can afford to operate without federal money. Wait, aren’t they a “not-for-profit” organization? They say they are.
3. Planned Parenthood is America’s largest abortion provider. One out of every four abortions in the U.S. is performed in a Planned Parenthood facility. Data shows that since 1970, Planned Parenthood has performed at least 5.3 million abortions. In 2013 alone, Planned Parenthood performed a record 357,653 abortions.[iv]
We are constantly told that PP’s abortion business is just a small fraction of what they do. Why, though, do citizens pay for other people’s abortions?
4. Planned Parenthood’s business model is centered on abortion. Former Planned Parenthood clinic director Abby Johnson has written that she was given an “abortion quota†and was even told by her superiors to double the number of abortions in order to bring in more revenue.[v] Abortion patients constitute 12 percent of Planned Parenthood clients — 332,000 of 3 million unduplicated clients in its most current report. 37 percent of all Planned Parenthood clinic income revenue is from abortion procedures, according to conservative estimates. Planned Parenthood has issued a directive instructing that all affiliates must have at least one clinic that performs abortion by 2013.[vi]
Oh, hey, I didn’t know this next one
9. Planned Parenthood does not provide mammograms and is not a significant primary care provider to women. Despite claims made by Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards and members of the media, Planned Parenthood does not provide mammograms. They are also not a significant primary care provider in general. In recent reports, Planned Parenthood acknowledges that it provided primary care only to about 19,700 of its 3 million unduplicated clients. These services have been trending downward for years, from 21,247 in 2007 to 20,235 in 2008, to today’s 19,796.[xiii]
Of that’s true, then there is no reason not to defund them. They can solicit donations from abortion on demand supporters. There are many hospitals, medical centers, and others that operate only on donations, rather than government money.
And even if it passed, our scumbag of a President will veto it. The proper method is to simply not include funding for Planned Parenthood, or any other private organizations, in next fiscal year’s appropriations. The Democrats will want such included, and threaten to filibuster the appropriations bills if not included, so the Senate has to pass one with the funding, and then have the conference committee strip the funding out. Then the Senate, which is limited to ten hours of debate over appropriations bills from conference, will pass the bill without the private group funding in it. The President can still veto it, but that means he’ll be vetoing a huge appropriations bill.
As all women services are covered under Obamacare, then why do we have this duplication?
Abortion is always a vote loser for the national GOP l a rabid anti son candidate against Hillary would ba wipeout
John-easy for you to say.
