(The Hill) President Obama plans to travel to Alaska at the end of the month to highlight the impacts of climate change on America’s last frontier.
In a video Thursday, Obama said Alaska is in a unique position when it comes to climate change and he will meet with local and international leaders to discuss what is happening and how to stop it.
“In Alaska, glaciers are melting,†he said.
“The hunting and fishing upon which generations have depended for their way of life and for their jobs are being threatened. Storm surges once held at bay now endanger entire villages. As Alaskan permafrost melts, some homes are even sinking into the ground. The state’s God-given natural treasures are all at risk.â€While the focus later this month will be on Alaska, Obama wants all Americans to be watching.
“What’s happening in Alaska isn’t just a preview of what will happen to the rest of us if we don’t take action,†he said. “It’s our wake-up call. The alarm bells are ringing. And as long as I’m president, America will lead the world to meet this threat before it’s too late.â€
The carbon footprint for a round trip flight, first class, from Dulles to Ted Stephens airport (Alaska) is 6.33 metric tons, a third of the average carbon footprint for U.S. citizens. Certainly, Obama’s footprint will be at least double that, probably much more, what with 2 jumbo jets, along with several fighter jets for cover. Plus, his giant convoy of fossil fueled vehicles.
Senator Lisa “Squishy Republican” Murkowski and Alaskans are suspicious
“The president of the United States doesn’t go to anybody’s state and stay three days and not do something,†Murkowski said last week at an event hosted by Bloomberg Business.
She said Alaskans are speculating that Obama will announce steps to further restrict oil drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, establish a marine sanctuary or other actions.
Of course, Obama, and Warmists in general, aren’t known for recognizing their own hypocrisy.

The carbon footprint of the USA is not a significant addition to carbon pollution.
Teach would you consider your own lifestyle to be 100% compliant with your politics? Do you openly carry at all times? do you allow employees to carry and display weapons (wouldn’t that keep your stores safer?) are you personally going to go and fight ISIS? Will you continue to sell out American workers by having your stores sell 90% foreign made goods? Of course even YOU must realize that climate change is affecting AK perhaps more than any other state.
also that figure about 1st class seats producing that much CO2. If that seat was empty how much less fuel would not be used?

I don’t know if you have noticed it or not, but john and jeff are light weights when it comes to intelligence, knowledge and especially reason and logic. It is really not worth debating them as ultimately they will degenerate into calling you names and being obnoxious.
“The carbon footprint of the USA…is not significant.” Good, so we can forgo all of Obama’s draconian EPA regulations. “Climate change affecting Alaska more than any other state.” Looking at a climate window of only 70 years or so you have absolutely no idea what is or is not happening with Alaska. Or why.

You used to describe elaborate “theories” of why the Earth is warming, now you’ve devolved to playground taunts! (In your defense, your theories weren’t required to comport with the physical laws of the universe so you had plenty of room to work in). You complained that your “theories” were criticized so you stopped. News flash, Einstein! That’s how scientific debate works!
I’ve seen this pattern before in cons. If you can’t refute the message, smear the messenger. And it’s why one can never have a legitimate debate with someone who’s positions are grounded in witchcraft and ideology – in this case, an unshakeable belief that CO2 accumulations in the atmosphere are not and can not be causing warming. To a denier no evidence can change that belief.
