Fantastic! Nothing like bringing tons more people from war torn countries with a history of Islamic extremism, who will mostly not speak our language, won’t share even the most basic of American values, and will immediately demand government assistance, over the needs of American citizens
(NY Times) The Obama administration will increase the number of worldwide refugees the United States accepts each year to 100,000 by 2017, a significant increase over the current annual cap of 70,000, Secretary of State John Kerry said Sunday.
“This step that I am announcing today, I believe, is in keeping with the best tradition of America as a land of second chances and a beacon of hope,†Mr. Kerry said, adding that it “will be accompanied by additional financial contributions†for the relief effort.
The American move, announced after Mr. Kerry held talks in Berlin with his German counterpart, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, still falls far short of the global demand for resettlement from people who continue to flee turmoil in Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan and other countries.
A goodly majority of these refugees/migrants are fighting age men. By all reports, only one-half to one-third are women and children. You look at all the pictures, and see barely any women and children. A good chunk of European countries are shutting down their borders, especially the prosperous northern EU nations.
What skills do they bring? What of their culture? How many are part of the Islamic extremist movement? How many are violent? We’ve seen more than enough rioting in European countries that have seen these folks stream in. Why are they not streaming into other Middle Eastern countries and Africa? Why only prosperous Western nations? Why are we responsible for them?
Who are they?
(UK Daily Mail) Only one in every five migrants claiming asylum in Europe is from Syria.
The EU logged 213,000 arrivals in April, May and June but only 44,000 of them were fleeing the Syrian civil war.
Campaigners and left-wing MPs have suggested the vast majority of migrants are from the war-torn state, accusing the Government of doing too little to help them.
‘This exposes the lie peddled in some quarters that vast numbers of those reaching Europe are from Syria,’ said David Davies, Tory MP for Monmouth. ‘Most people who are escaping the war will go to camps in Lebanon or Jordan.
The stream of these “economic refugees/migrants” exploded when some leading politicians in Europe said they would accept Syrian refugees. Now, some 80% are coming from Afghanistan, Pakistan, Nigeria, Albania, Libya, and other nations not called Syria. Reports show this could cost Germany 25 billion Euros, the equivalent of $28.13 billion US. Why are we responsible for taking in those escaping from their own hell-hole for economic reasons, at the expense of our own citizens?
How will will make sure that those coming are not part of extremist Islam? We aren’t talking about people escaping Europe, who brought similar and compatible values. We aren’t talking about other refugees who joined the great melting pot and raised families.

Fortunately, President Obama cannot set policy “through 2017.” His very unfortunate term ends on January 20, 2017, and a hopefully Republican President can say, “Stop! No more!” at noon on that day.
We already have 20 million “economic refugees” from Latin America that we are having trouble absorbing; only an utter moron or Barack Obama — please pardon the redundancy — would open the door to more.
The article said the cap (currently 70,000 per year) would increase to 85,000 in 2016 and 100,000 in 2017.
As many as 300,000 ethnic Bosnians (many Muslim) immigrated to the US during and after the Bosnian War of the early 90s. My hometown (and the odious Gateway Pundit’s!) has the largest Bosnian population outside Europe – some 75,000! Many have settled in the once run-down Bevo Mill neighborhood, revitalizing the area with their families, homes, retail shops, services and restaurants. Try the cevapcici!
It seems that the greatest country in the history of countries, with a population of over 330 million, and the greatest economy in the history of economy, and the greatest Christian tradition of all time, could absorb 0.03% of its total population in refugees from war torn areas. That’s absorbing 1 refugee/year for every 3300 Americans.
And why are Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria war torn?

It seems that you have ignored what I pointed out: we are already struggling to “absorb” 20 million or more “economic refugees” from Latin America. They have come here, and though many of them work, many others are putting a strain on our welfare and health care systems. At some point, you have to take care of your own house first.
