Is this “leading from behind”?
(Fox News) Russian officials have demanded that American warplanes exit Syrian airspace immediately, a senior U.S. official told Fox News early Wendesday.
The official told Fox News that Russian diplomats sent an official demarche ordering U.S. planes out of Syria, adding that Russian fighter jets were now flying over Syrian territory. U.S. military sources told Fox News that U.S. planes would not comply with the Russian demand.
“There is nothing to indicate that we are changing operations over Syria,” a senior defense official said.
Well, at least we’ve said “no”. For the moment.
The move by Moscow marks a major escalation in ongoing tensions between the two countries over military action in the war-torn country and comes moments after Russian lawmakers formally approved a request from the country’s president, Vladimir Putin, to authorize the use of troops in Syria.
On the bright side, at least it will be Russians dying, rather than US troops. On the down side, this could mean even more Russian influence in the region. It certainly means Syrian leader Assad is going nowhere. Thanks to Obama’s fecklessness, American credibility and leadership in the Middle East has waned. Remember his “red lines”?
This is a major coup by Putin, if this were chess, his next statement would be checkmate, Obama has been playing checkers. In one move, Putin now controls the mid East. That means that with his petroleum production and the mid East, he also controls Europe. As to Russian dying, we will see, they don’t ask the enemy if it is inconvenient to shoot at them as our ERO’s dictate. They also could give a flip about collateral damage. In short, if our military did anything aggressive or tried to save their fellow soldiers, they are put in jail. I don’t care for Putin’s objectives, but you have to admit he is a much better leader than anything we have in Washington put together. Oh, I know of how his currency is in free fall and other social issues, but you have to consider the fact that ours is worthless, we just don’t know it yet.
Good points david.
I especially like the statement by our “senior defense official”, “There is nothing to indicate that we are changing operations over Syria,â€
Sounds like Hillary’s constant claims that there is no evidence that…..
Oh well. I’m sure President red-line will reply with some more harsh words, then more golf. That’ll show Putin who he’s dealing with.
Is this “leading from behind
Oh please, William, we’re talking about Obama here ffs.
dp,
I really don’t think Obama is even leading from behind. It seems his only agenda is to destroy the US. That is fine as long as they allow the CSA its freedom.
