“Planned Parenthood Shooter Finally Convinces Leftists that Beliefs Matter”

That is the headline featured at Red State, as written by Leon H. Wolf. He writes

As of the time I sat down to write this article, we know absolutely nothing about the shooter at the Planned Parenthood in Colorado. Much of what we learn in the next 24 hours will be a mixture of falsehood and half-truths, if the normal news cycle is any indication. And yet, already we have multiple emails blaming RedState (and blogs like RedState) for the very existence of this guy. Here are a couple:

And he highlights a few. He goes on

Welp. We never on this site have ever advocated violence of any kind against Planned Parenthood or anyone else, and at this point we don’t know that the guy read RedState or any other conservative publications.

But I tell you what, I find this kind of thinking from liberals refreshing. See, for months, we have been trying to say that the terrorists who go around chopping people’s heads off and screaming Allahu Akbar, or blowing up planes full of civilians in Egypt in the name of Islam, or who shoot hundreds of civilians in Paris in order to strike a blow for Allah in the name of Islam ought to be taken seriously.

We have said repeatedly, “Shouldn’t the fact that these people all claim to be acting in the name of Islam cause us all to ask some pointed questions of Muslims about the extent to which they are fostering this behavior?”

To Leftists, never. They cannot conceive of the notion that all this terrorism and extremist behavior from Muslims could have anything to do with Islam, even when the Islamists tell us that it has everything to do with what is written in the Koran. Those few who can conceive the notion won’t admit to it verbally or in writing. It is a Disapproved Concept, utterly verboten within Leftism.

Leon goes on to note “we ought to cast a good, long hard look at the preachers of that ideology to determine whether they bear some responsibility for the violent acts of their extremists”, and that Red State can withstand the scrutiny, and wonders if Liberals have confidence that Islam can withstand that same scrutiny.

Twitchy has all sorts of tweets which blamestorm White Christians. And all Conservatives. The NRA is being blamed. Republicans as a whole are being blamed. At Think Progress we see

In a statement provided to ThinkProgress on Friday evening, Planned Parenthood Rocky Mountains CEO Vicki Cowart said it wasn’t yet clear whether the women’s health organization was the target of the attack. Cowart did, however, say that anti-abortion “extremists” have created a “poisonous environment that feeds domestic terrorism in this country.”

“We don’t yet know the full circumstances and motives behind this criminal action, and we don’t yet know if Planned Parenthood was in fact the target of this attack,” the statement read. “We share the concerns of many Americans that extremists are creating a poisonous environment that feeds domestic terrorism in this country. We will never back away from providing care in a safe, supportive environment that millions of people rely on and trust.”

So, what we’ve learned is that Leftists will blame every single pro-life supporter for the actions of a person for which we have no information on their political beliefs or any beliefs. Being pro-life is apparently “poisonous”. Yet, when we have lots and lots of violence in the name of Allah and Mohammad, we’re told this has nothing to do with Islam in the least. Allahu Akbar? It means “God is the greatest”. It is consistently screamed by terrorists who practice Islam. Does this mean that all Muslims are extremists? No. Not in the least. But, there is a big problem within the so-called Religion of Peace.

We’re told that only 10% are radicals. Other polls show just 7%. Some want to claim just 1%, at least of those Muslims living in Europe. Do the math. There are roughly 1.6 billion Muslims. What were 19 Muslims able to do on 9/11? The radicalization is something that progresses, though, with more learning the extremist views, who then teach their kids and others.

If every single Christian, white person, pro-choice believer, Conservative, Tea Party, Republican can be blamed for the actions of one person or small group, despite having nothing to do with the more extremist views, why can’t we blame a small part of Islam for the actions of their extremists?

  1. John says:

if abortion IS murder than many Christians would say the actions were justified
Will red state agree that this is Christian terrorism?

  2. Jeffery says:

What liberals are doing is mocking you in hopes you will generalize the lesson. But no.

Religious fundamentalism is poisonous to reason and civilized society.

If all Muslims are responsible for middle east terrorism, all Christians are responsible for US terrorism. That’s the lesson. Conservatives insist that Islam is at fault but that christian terrorism doesn’t exist.

  3. Jeffery says:

And where are the moderate christians decrying this act of terrorism against a frequent target of withering (and inaccurate) right-wing criticism?

    Where is Trump? Fiorina? Cruz?

  4. Jeffery says:

This morning Trump defended the killer in Colorado Springs saying “many people are upset with Planned Parenthood”.

  5. Dana says:

The shooter killed three people in the assault, one of whom was a police officer. I’ll ask the very politically incorrect question: how many people were not killed at that abortion clinic on Friday due to the attack?

  6. First, that doesn’t seem like defending the killer. Second, can you point where I actually defend except for maybe 1 post where I note he doesn’t believe in Hotcoldwetdry? How many posts have I written that even mention Trump? I don’t support Trump. So, attempting to make it seem as if I am a supporter is foolish.

  7. Jeffery says:

Dana defends terrorism as long as the terrorism supports his cause. At least he is honest.

Do any other conservatives here, lacking the courage to act on their own beliefs as Mr. Dear did, have the courage to admit, as Dana did, that Dear’s actions were true and good?

How is Dana different from jihadi cheerleaders?

He supports murder of the “other” in support of his religion of myths. So do the jihadis.

He wants violence against others, even innocents, to frighten others into doing what he wants. So do the jihadis.

  8. Jeffery says:

The silence on the right regarding this particular act of terrorism speaks volumes. America is watching.

  9. gitarcarver says:

The problem with Jeffery’s rants is that they are based on his assumptions and lies.

There is no indication that the shooter was a Christian. People who knew him say he never really spoke of religion or politics. He was more likely an agnostic or atheist, just like Jeffery and little johnny.

Secondly, I have no idea what church Jeffery attended today (actually we do know – none) but in my church we prayed for the victims and their families. The pastor and other leaders in the church all denounced the act of the shooter.

Third, the cop that was killed was a devoted Christian. He was willing to put his life on the line for others – even for others with whom he disagreed.

Jeffery and his ilk will lie and ignore the facts of this incident. That is what leftists do.

  10. Jeffery says:

Dear was as much a Christian as jihadis are Muslims. Kind of my point. His cause is THE fundamentalist Christian cause.

Even now you refuse to condemn Jihadi Dear’s cause.

The US domestic terrorism problem comes from the violent right and their supporters.

The religious right want their religious beliefs on abortion to apply to everyone, not just them. Republican politicians pander to this group, at least during the primary season. Dear’s use of an “assault” rifle adds the risk of offending the NRA and the Republicans are mum.

    Disgusting.

We understand how disappointed you are that a foreigner didn’t kill some Americans allowing you and the Republicuns to crow about Syrian refugees.

  11. drowningpuppies says:

    Disgusting

Yes, you are along with your outrageous rantings.

  12. Jeffery says:

    Nice “rebuke”. lol

  13. drowningpuppies says:

Sorry if I hurt your feelings by calling you disgusting.

I really thought you already knew.

  14. gitarcarver says:

Dear was as much a Christian as jihadis are Muslims. Kind of my point.

The problem is that the shooter never identified as a Christian. He never associated with other Christians (real or imagined.) He has not said that he was working to advance any “Christian” agenda or ideal.

Compare that with ISIS and other jihadis who do claim to be acting in the name of Islam.

So if you want to try and make the comparison that the two are the same, that just shows how stupid you really are. The shooter was more like you and john. Live with that.

His cause is THE fundamentalist Christian cause.

    Another lie from you.

The US domestic terrorism problem comes from the violent right and their supporters.

Really? You haven’t been following the activities on campuses and from unions have you?

The fact of the matter is that there are violent people on both sides of the political spectrum. The Right condemns the violence. The Left embraces it and calls for more.

The religious right want their religious beliefs on abortion to apply to everyone, not just them.

It is not surprising that you support murder of children.

We understand how disappointed you are that a foreigner didn’t kill some Americans allowing you and the Republicuns to crow about Syrian refugees.

We understand how disappointed you are that a non-Christian didn’t kill some Americans but that doesn’t stop you from lying about it.

    There. Fixed that for you.

Just out of curiosity, how does your wife feel about you calling her delusional and a terrorist?

  15. Jeffery says:

Abortion is not murder, much less murder of children.

I’ve already outlined your abject hypocrisy regarding “abortion is murder”. You encourage actual murders committed by your tribe, not having the courage of your own convictions. If you really thought abortion is murder you would take action. What kind of “man” would tolerate the murder of children?

You encourage your tribal members to commit murders then cry crocodile tears for their victims.

  16. david7134 says:

    jeff,
Sorry, but your ranting definitely defines you as a flaming nut. As to the difference in a lone shooter and a group in Paris, if you can’t see the difference, then more is wrong with you than we know, especially your lack of knowledge. We have been a war with Islam since about 500 ad. What we a witnessing with the Muslims is a resurgence in their lust for power, you know, like the Nazis. What we saw in Colorado is not known as no one has enough information. The guy was likely a liberal as he defined himself as a woman. In defending Islam are you aware of what you are defending? It is everything in the book that liberal hate. Yet you are comfortable with perpetuating this doctrine with your “tolerance”. Tolerance is the worst form of bigotry. But we all know you are a bigot, racist, and so forth.

  17. gitarcarver says:

Abortion is not murder, much less murder of children.

Of course it is. You support murder of children.

You encourage actual murders committed by your tribe, not having the courage of your own convictions.

Really? When have I encouraged murder of anyone?

What kind of “man” would tolerate the murder of children?

So you admit that you aren’t a man?

You admit you have no convictions and morals?

You aren’t telling anyone something they don’t already know.

You encourage your tribal members to commit murders then cry crocodile tears for their victims.

It’s so funny to watch you flail about, flinging mud in an intellectually dishonest rage.

By the way, since you are against terrorism, what are you going to do with your wife since you think she is a delusional terrorist?

  18. Jeffery says:

    Abortion is not murder.

You may wish to claim it’s murder to incite others to commit actions that you haven’t the nerve to perform, but abortion is clearly not murder.

It’s a lie, but we’ve come to expect that from you.

I ask again what manner of “man” tolerates the murder of children? You. You tolerate the murder of children.

Dear will spend the rest of his life in prison for “saving” lives (according to conservablogger Dana), but what have you done to save children from being “murdered”? Typed from the family room? Encouraged those such as Dear to kill in your stead?

    Flail away.

  19. Let’s assume Nuttball Dear is a Christian: are you implying all Christians are like this? Including your wife? Does it mean he did it in the name of Jesus and Jehovah?

Let’s assume that he did do it in the name of Christianity: sadly, there are bad people who do bad things in the name of religion (and athiests who do bad things in the name of their beliefs).

Would this allow you, Jeff, to say that there are quite a few Muslims who do bad things in the name of Allah and Mohammed? I’ll certainly admit that some people do bad things in the name of Christianity. Of course, are there 16 million Christians out in the world willing to commit terrorism and murder and other bad things in the name of Christianity, like with Muslims?

  20. gitarcarver says:

    Abortion is not murder.

Says the person who supports the murder of children.

It’s a lie, but we’ve come to expect that from you.

    Stop talking to yourself.

    (according to conservablogger Dana),

Really? Dana asked a question. I guess you are so worried about the answer that you would rather attack the messenger. You would rather lie about him and others than be honest.

but what have you done to save children from being “murdered”?

Far more than you have. And it is more than just “typing.”

You are the ones with blood on your hands, Jeffery. The shooter has ideals are far more along your political and religious leanings.

When are you reporting your delusional, terrorist wife to the police, Jeffery?

  21. Jeffery says:

Abortion is not murder of children or anyone else. You’re embarrassing yourself in your attempts to change the subject. Typical.

Of course not all Christians are terrorists any more than all Muslims are terrorists. Isn’t that the point?

But fundamentalist Christian ideologues insist on calling legal abortion “murder”, contrary to the truth.

The answer to Dana’s “question” is that no one is killed at Planned Parenthood unless an anti-abortion terrorist shows up with an assault rifle. Anti-abortion terrorists and their right-wing supporters have a deeply held Christianist belief that embryos and fetuses are persons and that violence in their defense is justified (as exemplified by commenters here who are working overtime defending the murderer).

Muslim jihadists also have deeply held beliefs that they feel justifies their violence.

Again, how is Mr. Dear different from murderous jihadists and shouldn’t we be monitoring these sorts of Americans just like you want us to monitor Muslims?

  22. drowningpuppies says:

Some days, lil’ one, it’s just not worth chewing through the restraints isn’t it?

  23. Jeffery says:

Here’s who the terrorist Dear killed:

Garrett Swasey: He was the 44 year old father of two, a police officer for the University of Colorado and an elder of his Christian church. He was there responding to the call.

Ke’Arre M. Stewart: The 29 year old was the father of two, and an Iraq veteran who left the service in 2013. He was there supporting a friend.

Jennifer Markovsky: 36 year old stay at home mother of two, married to a service member. She was there supporting a friend.

    Another 9 people were wounded.

  24. Jeffery says:

Some days, sucking one, it’s just not worth your energy to think, is it?

  25. drowningpuppies says:

I’m not worried about what you think because I can see that you don’t do it that often.
