The Donald has had a very busy weekend. He engaged in a Twitter war with Elizabeth “Fake Indian” Warren, nicknaming her “Goofy”, and doing what no politician who says he’s a Republican would do: calling her out for her fake Indian background. Then there’s this
(The Hill) Donald Trump threw a new claim Hillary Clinton’s way at a Saturday rally, telling the crowd that she wants to do away with the Second Amendment.
“Hillary Clinton wants to abolish the Second Amendment. She wants to abolish it,” Trump said at a Saturday rally in Lynden, Wash. “Hillary Clinton wants to take your guns away and she wants to abolish the Second Amendment. She wants to take the bullets away.”
“We’re going to cherish the Second Amendment, we’re going to take care of the Second Amendment.”
Obviously, the media went into overdrive in saying that Hillary has proposed no such thing
Clinton is in favor of universal background checks, closing loopholes on gun purchases and increasing restrictions on domestic abusers and the mentally ill. And she wants to repeal the law that prevents victims of gun violence from suing retailers or manufacturers, among other measures.
But Clinton said at a recent event that “we can’t ignore the Second Amendment” and has never proposed ending legal gun ownership entirely.
Does Hillary want to do away with the 2nd? It’s obviously campaign trail hyperbole, based on the notion that many Liberals do, in fact, want to do away with the 2nd. But, since that would be damned near impossible, they will use things like “universal background checks” to deny people firearms ownership for the most minuscule of reasons. They want extra taxes on firearms and ammunition, making them too expensive. They want government tracking at all times. They want victims of shootings to sue firearms makers. Do we sue alcohol makers when a person gets drunk, gets behind the wheel, and hits someone? Do we sue a bathtub manufacturer when we fall in the bathtub? There’s no reason other than litigating gun manufacturers out of business (well, throwing a sop to the lawyers who back Democrats, of course).
This is the Democratic Party playbook. Go for a big big “comprehensive” law, while also doing a “death by a 1,000 papercuts” method. They say they support women, but, they want to disarm women, leaving them at risk from criminals. Speaking of women, Trump also took on Bill Clinton’s misogyny and treatment of women, tying Hillary in
Trump said the former secretary of State was an “enabler†who “treated these women horribly.â€
“Some of those women were destroyed … by the way Hillary Clinton treated them after it went down,” he said.
Say what you will about Trump, he knows buttons, and unlike most elected Republicans, he doesn’t push the button once in a shot across the bow. He continues to fire shot after shot after shot. You can expect that Trump will continue to push certain memes from now until election day.

Can a US President abolish an amendment to our Constitution? If The Big Orange Combover is elected, we’ll find out! What amendment will he go after? He’s not sure, having not read any yet.
And this is why he appeals to that subset of Republicans more interested in “giving it to those liberals” than in governing the US. He mocks Senator Warren! He mocks Secretary Clinton! His plan to bring back jobs?? Not so much.
The Big Orange Blowhard is a creation of the new Republican Party’s wars against women, LGBTs, Muslims, Blacks, Mexicans, non-Christians and non-whites. Although the new Party has become the face of Christian Conservative Causcasian male superiority, the truth is their policies have been the same old, same old fealty to the moneyed interests, corporations and businesses at the EXPENSE of the working classes.
Big Orange pushes these bigotry buttons, but superimposed on a pseudo-populist message appealing to the economically nonplussed and angry white guy. He’s clever enough and enough of a schemer to soften his ridicule of women, Hispanics and Muslims to not alienate his hater base, but are minorities capable of being fooled by him? Doubtful. So, are there enough angry white guys to elect him? We’ll see in November.

Warren beat up on Big Orange in the “tweeter war” too, so much so that Big Orange stopped and went away to lick whatever he licks to feel better.

In both a short term and long term prospectus, our economy is rigged by Repubs and Dems alike to benefit the wealthy and corporations at the expense of the working classes. Trump gets it, but uses this understanding to fuel his race-baiting campaign to offer hope (likely false, as it turns out). Trump blames minorities and foreigners for the middle class despair caused by our own elected officials. Senator Sanders “gets it”, too, but takes a different tack, laying the blame where it belongs, on our bought and paid for politicians.
That’s the problem with believing dave. He’s a liar.
I cofounded a drug development company, not a drug manufacturing company. We were able to purchase the rights to certain chemicals (potential drugs) when our previous company was dissolved by venture investors. My partners and I doggedly believed the potential drugs had promise in treating human disease – we took a risk, spent some money, and worked for nothing for a couple of years and it seems we were right. It wasn’t as risky as it sounds though since I had socked away enough to retire on from my previous job in big pharma.
If you understand how venture capitalists work you’d understand that I “own” very little. We are conducting clinical trials in cancer patients at this time.
I’m well paid, as is my wife (partner in her own company), but because we live simply and conservativley by US standards, we’ve been able to save a lot, and have invested luckily, if not wisely. Mostly luck and conservative living. With continued success in the clinical trials I’ll be able to leave my children and grandchildren some comforts.
That said, we could live wherever we want in the area, but we choose to live in an “inner ring” suburb less than a mile outside the city limits in a house we bought in 1981 when I was in grad school. All three kids went to the local schools. It’s about 1200 sq ft, not 7000; on a typical quarter acre lot, 3 small BR, 1 car garage filled with junk, finished basement, a deck, patio and 2 baths. My neighbors and I are all working class; a bus mechanic, retired teacher, lab tech, office manager, a CPA, a scientist, a nurse, salesman, and other assorted retirees.
Why are you more interested in me than serious issues? We know the answer. Now you have more ammunition to disparage me rather than discuss issues. Have at it!
