Are you up for the EPA showing up on your land to make sure your little pond is in compliance with lots of guns? How about the Food And Drug Administration? Or the Small Business Administration? The tyranny of Big Government
(Free Beacon) There are now more non-military government employees who carry guns than there are U.S. Marines, according to a new report.
Open the Books, a taxpayer watchdog group, released a study Wednesday that finds domestic government agencies continue to grow their stockpiles of military-style weapons, as Democrats sat on the House floor calling for more restrictions on what guns American citizens can buy.
The “Militarization of America†report found civilian agencies spent $1.48 billion on guns, ammunition, and military-style equipment between 2006 and 2014. Examples include IRS agents with AR-15s, and EPA bureaucrats wearing camouflage.
“Regulatory enforcement within administrative agencies now carries the might of military-style equipment and weapons,†Open the Books said. “For example, the Food and Drug Administration includes 183 armed ‘special agents,’ a 50 percent increase over the ten years from 1998-2008. At Health and Human Services (HHS), ‘Special Office of Inspector General Agents’ are now trained with sophisticated weaponry by the same contractors who train our military special forces troops.â€
There are over 200,000 non-military federal officers with the ability to arrest and carry firearms. The Marines have 182,000 personnel. Many of them are carrying weapons which are illegal for purchase by the general public, because they are automatic weapons.
Other administration agencies that have purchased guns and ammo include the Small Business Administration, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the Department of Education, and the National Institute of Standards and Technology.
And don’t forget the Department Of Health And Human Services, which has lots of “sophisticated military-style weapons.â€
Then you have the Railroad Retirement Board. The Social Security Administration. Geological Survey. Animal and Plant Inspection Service. Agency For International Development. And I’m sure they, and a few others, all have wonderful awesome rationales for arming their employees.
Actually that is the number authorized to carry weapons not the amount that do carry weapons
Teach how many times each day do you personally see a Federal employee packing heat ?
Ohhh and yourself, do you allow or encourage your employees to openly carry at work ?
Love to see pics of that
Actually, if you are supposed to carry a weapon you better damn sure be carrying it or you’re fired.
I don’t know, how many times are you allowed to frisk a government employee?
Where does “open carry” come in to play? Or is this just another twisting of words as usual? Do federal agents “open carry”?
John is simply trying to deflect, Hoagie. That’s what he does.
I know Mr. Teach, but the constant twisting and turning while missing the mark is silly. We all know if a federal employee is issued a gun as part of his job he has to carry it. Why argue such a silly point? And all of a sudden the standard goes from carrying a gun to “open carry” like we’re cowboys. How childish is that? I always carry a gun and almost never open carry.
I’ve also noticed how many anti gun types refer to it as “packing heat” like it’s a James Cagney movie or something.
Clearly the Feds are hiding their true intentions by outfitting EPA, IRS, FDA employees with automatic weapons for the final reckoning. President Hillary will give the secret signal and 200,000 Federal employees will start the purge, arresting (or worse) right-wing bloggers and commenters and putting them on trains to FEMA camps in Montana (256,000 acres outside Havre), where they’ll be guarded (or worse) by Negroes, Mexicans, Muslims and teh gays.
You’ll live out your days in wooden barracks with nothing but AR-15s with only 3 shot magazines (the horror!) and NO flash suppressors for protection from the more violent of your kind. MSNBC is the only TV station and you’ll be forced to attend Islamic services, drive Prius’s and eat an ovo-lacto-vegetarian diet.
Once per year you will be re-evaluated by a panel consisting of one each of: a Negro, a transgendered man, a Muslim, an agnostic Caucasion, a Mexican, a gay man, a female Unitarian minister, a lesbian, a biology professor, a RINO and a holistic healer. You will need at least 7 votes to be able to return to decent society but you will still be limited to 3 shot magazines for the rest of your life, and armed FDA agents will always be around to check your diet.
@Jefferson
Your little meme is quite funny actually. Im sure if it was left up to you and most of the people on your radical left that you would in fact institute this as part of your ethnic cleansing.
There is nothing more assuaging then projecting your own inner feelings into a little humorous dialogue in which your real thoughts and feelings are expressed in the form of humor.
That’s one hell of a diseased mind, Jeffery. As Liam Thomas opined, you leftists have always been just this side of sane and frequently you pop your corks with your hateful dreams and aspirations. You do realize the entire nightmare (for us) you described has happened over and over again in leftist countries, don’t you? It’s pitiful that a malevolent person such as you was fortunate to be born here. You would be much happier living in North Korea. We’d all be happier with you living in North Korea come to think of it.
Wow! What a hateful, vengeful douche. But a typical leftist.
[…] Speaking of guns, did you know that federal bureaucrats have more guns than the US Marine Corps? Why do bureaucrats need weapons of […]
In the meantime, the mental midgets in Congress who are trying to regulate citizen’s access to firearms continue to demonstrate their ignorance:
Democratic Rep. Diana DeGette drew national criticism Wednesday for remarks made at a public forum in which she said banning high-capacity in ammunition magazines would be effective in reducing gun violence because “the bullets will have been shot and there won’t be any more available.â€
For years in Congress, DeGette has been the prime sponsor on a federal ban on high-capacity magazines.
But despite the congresswoman’s claim, ammunition magazines can be reloaded with more bullets and can be reused hundreds of times.
“These are ammunition, they’re bullets, so the people who have those now, they’re going to shoot them, so if you ban them in the future, the number of these high-capacity magazines is going to decrease dramatically over time because the bullets will have been shot and there won’t be any more available,†she said at Tuesday’s forum, hosted by The Denver Post’s editorial board.
