Bummer: Louisiana Isn’t Letting Illegal Aliens And Terrorists Get Married

Obviously, this is causing a massive case of the meanies according to the Washington Post’s Catherine Rampell

For an illustration of how cruel the country’s latest wave of nativism has grown, look to Louisiana.

Here, a little-noticed new state law has effectively made it illegal for thousands of refugees to get married.

It all started last year. Having lost the fight over gay marriage, the state’s religious right decided that the sacred institution of wedlock was once again under attack — this time, by devious immigrants. Undocumented workers and even terrorists had newly discovered they could exploit Louisiana’s marriage laws to gain citizenship, legislators claimed, leading to a supposed epidemic of “marriage fraud.”

The response? Make it more difficult for immigrants to get married, of course.

Hmm, sounds like a good idea, wiping away a loophole in the law that would allow those who shouldn’t be here in the first place, and those who have terrorist leanings, from gaining citizenship.

What Catherine whines about is that this law catches legal immigrants in a trap, because some do not have a birth certificate. OK, one. That’s right, one had an issue. That’s it. One. Who drove to Alabama to get married legally. But, could probably have asked for a waiver, based on his tenure and legal status in the country. And the fact that he probably wasn’t a threat for terrorism, being Buddhist.

But, you know, if even one is inconvenienced, well, we have to scrap all the laws, even if it makes it easy for illegals and terrorists to gain citizenship. Of course, if it’s one biological girl being inconvenienced because a gender confused boy wants in to her bathroom, shower, and changing room, well, the left has fours for her: “piss off, you hater.”

Caitlyn Jenner has male DNA, so he should use the men’s room.

Why would anyone possibly care where Caitlyn Jenner pees?

So our resident liberals are for sexual harassment in the workplace.

How interesting given their support of Hillary.

But if, no one should “possibly care” as Jeffery asserts, then why have a law forcing the choice on companies and individuals?

Is this the “self-deportation” conservatives are so fond of?

So little guy, you claimed earlier to have served in the army, what was your MOS?
    Simple question for a vet.

  7. Dana says:

Well, we would be a lot better off if the original franchise, white male property owners, was still in effect. :)

But the better choice would be to repeal the 16th Amendment.

  9. Hoagie says:

Since the democrats seem to want a repeal of the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, and 10th amendments what’s just one more? Besides, judging by Bush 43 and Obama’s actions the entire Constitution can be ignored at will.

    Hoagie,

So what would you think about the little guy claiming he served in the Army yet cannot reveal his MOS?
