GOP insiders: Polls don’t capture secret Trump vote
Those battleground state polls that paint such a grim picture of Donald Trump’s prospects against Hillary Clinton? Most Republican insiders don’t believe they’re accurately capturing Trump’s true level of support.
That’s according to the POLITICO Caucus — a panel of activists, strategists and operatives in 11 key battleground states. More than seven-in-10 GOP insiders, 71 percent, say the polls understate Trump’s support because voters don’t want to admit to pollsters that they are backing the controversial Republican nominee.
“I’m not sure how big a factor it is, but there is definitely a ‘Bradley effect’ going on out there,†said a Virginia Republican, referring to the African-American mayor of Los Angeles who led in polls but lost unexpectedly in the 1982 California gubernatorial race. “I personally know many Republicans that won’t admit that they are voting for Trump. I don’t like admitting it myself. It won’t matter if Hillary is up more than 5 points, but we might be in for a surprise if Hillary’s lead is less than 5 points on Election Day.â€
A Michigan Republican — who, like all insiders, completed the survey anonymously —added that Trump voters are reticent to admit it publicly: “Anecdotally, that’s clearly the case in barber-shop conversations.â€
Every time I hear this kind of schtick on the radio or TV, or in articles, I roll my eyes. It sounds rather wishful and divorced from reality, does it not? But, what if it is real? What if there are tons of people who refuse to admit that they are voting for Trump, including to pollsters? We’ve seen some massive flipping of polls over the past few months, and especially in the past few weeks. I’m not quite sure why someone would refuse to tell a pollster who they’re voting for, but, could you see it happen, with people not wanting to admit they’re voting for Trump?
Where the big difference could be made is within the #NeverTrump and GOP fence sitter #NeverHillary community. What if all these millions of Republicans decide to vote for Trump at the last minute? Usually, I would have hit the early voting booth yesterday, having the day off, but, I’m holding out till next week, to see if Trump can give me a reason to vote for him, at least as a vote against Hillary. Or, do I simply not vote president, and just vote down ballot? That’s the conundrum. Many, many more might be facing the same prospect.
Even 26% of Democrats think the polls underestimate Trump’s support, while 71% of Republicans think the polls understate.
It’s a long, long article, worth the read. And it does beg the question: could this mean more actual votes for Trump (with a goodly chunk being protest votes against Hillary) than thought of ?

However, the pollsters have been wrong rather a lot recently, and wrong to the liberal side. They predicted squeakers for Benjamin Netanyahu and the Conservatives in The UK, and were surprised by the large victory margins. The “remain” side was s’posed to win the Brexit vote; they got that wrong. The pollsters were surprised by the margins in the Canadian elections, though that was an error to the right, not the left.
The pollsters are having problems with the loss of landlines and so many people going cell only; they are trying to figure it out, but aren’t quite there yet.
I really can’t imagine Donald Trump winning, but it could happen.
Dana, a lot of people won’t admit they’re voting for Trump. And it isn’t that they’re embarrassed about it.
They’re just tired of being berated, belittled and lectured by those on the left when the subject comes up.
Every election supporters of the trailing candidates insist the polls are wrong and more will come out for their guy and fewer for the other guy. Yet, national polls taken during the final week of every presidential election since 1976 have picked the winner every time except 2000 where they showed George W. Bush ahead by 2 but Gore won the popular (voter turnout was higher than expected).

Still, this year could be different. If the average of national polls draws to a few % points by the election Trump can pull it out. Maybe an inept, unfit president will get the citizenry off their keisters and demand responsible governance for the first time in decades. Maybe Trump can lead by being a bad example.
Trump in a poll done yesterday is now garnering 16 percent of the Black vote…..3x’s more then McCain and Romney.
In addition his latino vote is edging higher and higher….showing an erosion of support for what is clearly becoming a criminal in HRC and her mafia army of controllers.
With the I hate Bernie followers attitude among the left or in short a divided house much as the gop is divided…..we have a race that is being polled very incorrectly….

I don’t think it’s so much about people not wanting to admit that they are voting Trump as it is the pollsters missing those who will vote Trump.
Every one I have talked to has never been polled. Even the Trump supporters online are asking who is being polled because it isn’t them.
I look at the rallies too. The smallest Trump rally has 10X the attendees as the largest Clinton rally.
I also hear from a lot of different places in the country and they all say the same, that they see many, many Trump signs in people’s yards but very few Clinton signs. The same goes for bumper stickers.
Add to that, the polls are weighted with more Democrats being polled and of course they will show Clinton ahead.
I think that on election day the Trump supporters are going to be at the polls in record numbers and all these ‘experts’ are in for a huge surprise.
Nobody thought Reagan had a chance against Carter based on the Election night polls, and voila, we got Reagan in a landslide. I see this as a very similar circumstance. The Obama years have devastated many just like the Carter years did, and Blacks have been feeling pretty abandoned by him lately. No one wanted to say they would vote for the “Dunce” and I think many today think the same about Trump. Trump will surely disappoint many Conservatives, but so would any of the other Republican choices we had. Trump is a wildcard, but Hillary is a known quantity, and what we know about her Presidency should scare the bejesus out of all of us.

The polls were qualitatively right but missed how much Obama would win by.

The FBI has reopened its investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private server while secretary of state after discovering new emails – apparently during the probe of former Rep. Anthony Weiner’s sexting – in a stunning turn of events just days before the presidential election.
FBI Director James Comey wrote in a letter to top members of Congress Friday that the bureau has “learned of the existence of emails that appear to be pertinent to the investigation.â€

A new email thread released Friday shows Podesta got a March 19 email from “Google†notifying him someone had his “password” and tried to sign in from Ukraine.
The IT team told Podesta the message was legit and he should change his password. But it appears the email actually was a phishing ploy – and likely gave the world access to the contents of his account.

1. CHICAGO (CBS) — Susie Sallee was buried in 1998. Yet records show she voted in Chicago 12 years later.
Victor Crosswell died in 1994, but records show he’s voted six times since then.
And then there’s Floyd Stevens. Records show he’s voted 11 times since his death in 1993.
“It’s crazy,†Sharon Stevens Anderson, Stevens’ daughter, tells CBS 2’s Pam Zekman. “I don’t see how people can be able to do something like that and get away with it.â€
Those are just a few of the cases CBS 2 Investigators found by merging Chicago Board of Election voter histories with the death master file from the Social Security Administration.
In all, the analysis showed 119 dead people have voted a total of 229 times in Chicago in the last decade. This just scratches the surface. An estimated 7,000 fraudulent votes are cast in Chicago alone each election.

The key to one of the most contentious presidential elections in history could be right here in the Keystone state.
Republican candidate Donald Trump has made allegations of fraud at polls in the City of Philadelphia.
So, Action News dug through a decade’s worth of election and death records to see if there was any truth to the claim.
Some of what Action News investigation found was stunning.
Rita A. Pezzano, who passed a decade ago, was found listed as an active voter. Her daughter-in-law was shocked when we shared the news.
“I was about seven months pregnant when she died,” said Audrey Marchiano.
“So she has been dead about 10 years now?” asked Investigative Reporter Wendy Saltzman.
“Yes,” said Marchiano.
Pezzano passed in 2006. But state voting records show the South Philadelphia native still listed as an “Active Voter” who cast ballots in 2008, 2012, 2014, and the 2016 primary election.
Wendy Saltzman asked Marchiano if there was any way Pezzano could have voted in 2016.
“Not if she was dead,” Marchiano replied. “So no.”
Our investigation also found Joseph B. Haggarty resting peacefully in a Bucks County cemetery. His grave marker confirmed he died in 2010, but records show he voted five years after his death.
“Any chance he voted in 2015?” Wendy Saltzman asked a neighbor.
“I’m sure he didn’t, personally. God rest his soul, he’s long gone,” he replied.
Action News also found Paul Bunch, who died in 2006, also cast a vote in this year’s primary which was nearly ten years after death records show he died.
Wendy Saltzman asked Bunch’s former neighbor if that seemed impossible.
“I believe so. It sounds like it, unless he is coming back from the dead,” he said.
Action News also visited the former neighborhood of Concetta Gallara. Records show she died in 2009, but voted in 2013.
When asked if there was a way Gallara could have voted, her former neighbor Jeanie Pizzo told Saltzman, “I don’t know, it’s awfully funny. Unless a dead person came out of their grave.”
This is all too common throughout all Philadelphia precincts sometimes reporting 105% of voters voting Democrat. That’s right: 105%!
　
3. A woman in Hollywood, Maryland is the latest in a number of early voters to claim that her ballot was switched to Hillary Clinton after she had tried to vote for Donald Trump.
Noting that she had seen reports on the news of votes being flipped, the woman said, “I went in and voted a straight Republican ticket and thank God I went back and checked and they had switched my vote from Trump to (Hillary).â€
She said that she had to get the vote changed back by alerting election officials, who simply told her to vote for a second time.
“I went back the second time and made sure they didn’t change it,†she concluded.
As we reported earlier this week, voters in numerous areas of Texas have made a series of complaints that votes are being switched from Trump to Clinton.

A 74-year-old woman tasked with opening envelopes sent by Miami-Dade County voters with their completed mail ballots was arrested Friday after co-workers caught her illegally marking ballots, resulting in an unknown — but small — number of fraudulent votes being cast for mayoral candidate Raquel Regalado.
Investigators linked Gladys Coego, a temporary worker for the county elections department, to two fraudulent votes, but they suspect from witness testimony that she submitted several more.
Coego, of Westchester, turned herself in to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on Friday morning. She was charged with two felony counts of marking another person’s ballot. Her bond was set at $10,000.
In a separate election-fraud case, authorities also arrested a second woman for unlawfully filling out voter-registration forms on behalf of United for Care, the campaign to legalize medical marijuana in Florida.
The Miami-Dade state attorney’s office accused Tomika Curgil, 33, of filling out forms for five people without their consent. She also submitted at least 17 forms for people who apparently don’t exist — and several forms for people who are dead.
Police officers arrested Curgil at her Liberty City home Friday morning and charged her with five felony counts of submitting false voter-registration information. Her bond was set at $125,000.

5. A former resident of Alexandria, Virginia, is facing up to 40 years in prison after he allegedly used fake names to fill out voter registration applications.
Vafalay Massaquoi, 30, is facing four felony charges related to allegations of voter registration fraud, the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office said. Each charge carries a maximum of 10 years in prison.
In the spring of 2016, Massaquoi was registering new voters as an employee of a local advocacy group. According to the Commonwealth’s Attorney, Massaquoi fabricated applications and used fake names to fill out the registration forms.
While the Commonwealth’s Attorney did not name the group Massaquoi was employed by, it appears he worked with the New Virginia Majority, an advocacy group aligned with the Democratic Party.
