Back in 2016, the Obama administration decided that it would be a great idea to blackmail schools into allowing the tiny number of kids who are gender confused to use the bathrooms, showers, and locker rooms (BSL) of their choice, as matches their so-called gender identity. 13 states, DOJ reach settlement in litigation over transgender student rights
The state of Texas and the Justice Department appear to have reached a settlement of a multi-state federal lawsuit over transgender student rights, according to a new filing with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit.
Thirteen states, led by Texas, are expected to drop a suit they filed against the Obama administration last year after it released a directive saying that Title IX — a federal law that prohibits sex-based discrimination in federally funded education programs — protects against gender-identity discrimination. Former President Barack Obama’s Education and Justice departments told schools they must allow transgender students to use bathrooms and locker rooms consistent with their gender identities, and threatened withdrawal of education funds for those that did not comply with the non-binding guidance. The directive prompted nearly half of the states to sue. (sue)
And last week the Trump administration moved to rescind Obama’s directive entirely — and without it, the states and DOJ have nothing to fight about. In the filing Thursday, the Justice Department said it’s withdrawing the appeal of the nationwide ban, and the states indicated they’ll soon withdraw their suit.
The Trump guidance leaves it up to the states and school districts to decide what policy they want if they have a gender confused person at their school. Choice. Liberals like choice, don’t they? Not in this case. Liberals were very upset that they would be given the option, rather than having the federal government make it for everyone. Which is one of the reasons Trump won the majority of states, especially in the South and Heartland: people are tired of weenies in Washington making pronouncements that are idiotic and force that idiocy down their throats.
Sure, give school districts, cities and states the choice to decide whom to discriminate against. Local control.
In your “mind” would state law pre-empt school district or city-wide policies? In other words if the Austin school district enacts a policy that children can use the restroom consistent with their gender identification would state law block them from instituting that policy?
You won’t be able to flash little girls in the restroom anymore, little pervert…
That’s up to the States and their laws.
There really is an easy solution: those who are gender confused should accept the accommodations which have been offered, which are typically separate changing rooms, showers, and bathrooms. They claim they want their privacy, then make a big deal of DEMANDING to be allowed to use the ones they want, invading the privacy of other kids.
Accepting the reasonable accommodations they’ve been offered means accepting that they different, that they are not what they claim to be; that’s why they find such unacceptable. It’s not that “Gavin” Grimm believes she is a boy; it’s that she wants to force the state and private individuals to accept her claim to be a boy.
Of course, the credentialed media go right along with this: if you read the media stories about Miss Grimm, they all use the masculine pronouns for her. The same is true concerning Bruce Jenner; the media use the feminine pronouns for him.
There actually is “an easy solution,” but it’s an expensive one: completely private restrooms and locker rooms for everybody. Who, I wonder, is going to have to pay for that?
In the Vatican, of all places, I was in a men’s restroom, and the individual stalls, unlike what we see in the US, went floor-to-ceiling. If public accommodations were like that in the US, there wouldn’t be the problems being encountered now. This restroom did have urinals, which were out in the main room, and there was a female custodian in there, cleaning, when I entered. That kind of surprised me.
If I were building any sort of business facility now, I’d direct that the restrooms be entirely private, because you just know that the left will keep pushing on this idiocy.

No, of course liberals don’t like choice; they are pro-choice on exactly one thing!
There is no acceptable compromise in this: the ‘gender confused’ mentally ill will not accept an accommodation, which sets aside single-use restrooms and locker rooms, because accepting such means accepting that they are not like real girls or real boys, which they are not! That is the basis of the upcoming Supreme Court case of “Gavin” Grimm, in which Gloucester High School spent money to create a couple new single-use bathrooms for her, but ’twasn’t good enough. But to give Miss Grimm what she wants means to invade the expected privacy rights of others.
For the left, the only acceptable path is to embrace every weird and abnormal notion even remotely connected with sex, because to do otherwise is to accept normal, conservative notions. Even Jeffrey isn’t stupid enough not to know that someone like “Gavin” Grimm, with ovaries, a vagina and XX chromosomes, is not a boy, but he pretends otherwise.
Imagine, if you will, that there is some sort of civilization-destroying catastrophe, and most of humanity is killed off, and our infrastructure mostly destroyed. Further imagine that some future anthropologist comes across the mortal remains of Bruce Jenner, which, by then, includes only his skeleton. Said future anthropologist examines Mr Jenner’s skeleton, and concludes, from the structure of his pelvis, “This person was male.” The anthropologist checks further, and gets lucky, finding a bit of Mr Jenner’s DNA has survived, and finds XY chromosomes, and again concludes that the deceased person was male.
Why? Because he looked at the evidence objectively, as one would think a scientist should, and the objective evidence is that Mr Jenner is male. It is only by accepting the subjective, Mr Jenner’s claims about how he feels, that Jeffrey and the rest of the left can accept the cockamamie notion that Mr Jenner is female.
The ‘transgendered’ are mentally ill; they do not accept reality concerning themselves. The problem with the left is that they choose to accept the delusions of the mentally ill, because they are oh-so-sympathetic, rather than to admit the harshness of reality. Then, the left want to compel everyone else to go along with those delusions, and no, you are not to have any choice about that.
When I lived in Virginia, in Hampton, I was right across the York River from Gloucester. It’s a small town and rural area, and I had co-workers from “Guinea,” an area in Gloucester County, where a lot of people made their living on scallop boats. Maybe Miss Grimm would have found more acceptance had she lived in some cuckoo community like Hartford, but no, not in Gloucester.
Great move by the DOJ and Trump.
Gender identity is one of the stupidest ideas the left has ever embraced and THAT is saying something.
This is the single most idiotic thing ever done, aside from electing Barack Obama.
The easiest solution is this: Have 3 restrooms. One for men, one for women, and one labeled “Democrats”. Problem solved
Democrats cannot legitimately use any restroom labeled “Men.” You can be a Democrat, or you can be a man; you cannot be both.
